Ex Indians update

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was reading through this thread and for a minute I was thinking about how crazy things have gotten and how people have changed in accepting what was once considered deviant.

Then it occurred to me, recalling what a complete shit-show the entire year of 2020 was and putting it all into context, that compared to last year's every day news this incident now feels like it's almost a non-story to me. I talk to some younger dudes who say their women like and ask for very rough sex. Lots of women of my age including my wife would be outraged by Bauer's actions but I think younger women who are possibly more into that behavior to varying degrees would find it to be less offensive or even understandable, depending on the details and circumstances whenever they do come out.

I guess my point is that it just doesn't seem like it's as big of a deal now as it would have been pre-2020 for whatever reason.
"Deviant" sounds like someone being judgmental and that person should really look inward at themselves before thinking that their judging of someone else is something that is worth anything, or that they should be doing in the first place.

I'm also wondering what people are so certain "Bauer's actions" are. Again, we don't know much at this point.

I'll echo what I said a few pages back--I still can't believe how many people conflate consensual rough sex with physical abuse. (not saying that's what happened here--again, we don't know)

I can't believe how many people here believe this (if true) is in any way normal.

The woman said Bauer wrapped her hair around her neck and choked her unconscious again. When she awoke, she said, "Trevor began punching my face. This was the first punch I felt but it is very possible that Trevor had already been punching and scratching the right side of my face while I was unconscious."

Bauer followed, she said, with closed-fist punches to the left side of her jaw, the left side of her head and both cheekbones. The woman said she was "frozen and terrified" and "could not speak or move." He choked her again, she said,
and punched her in the vagina.

And Bauer isn't denying it happened:

His attorney, Jon Fetterolf, said in a statement Tuesday that Bauer “did what was asked.”

No one is defending its "normalness"... No one is defending Bauer as far that I can tell. It's whether or not Bauer violated this woman, behaved in a manner that she did not consent to.

He sounds gross for sure.

We will probably never know what truly happened but I do see Bauer as someone who would be kind of naive as to the subtleties of what was requested in something like this. Like someone asks to be hit harder and he misunderstands and considering he's a pro athlete with fast moving arms it leads to a mess.

I truly do not understand requests like this in the first place but apparently it's trendy nowadays.

Many of us will not hit a woman... or a man... even if it is "requested".. some people will...

Your morality doesn't allow you to be subjective/objective here IMO because you have already established there is no situation where hitting a woman isn't wrong... Unless they're killing your family.. Then maybe... Right?

On some level it is clear this woman chose to engage in this behavior.. Pushing the limits is intrinsic with this lifestyle I would assume. A lot of gray area here and though Bauer's behavior is depraved and kind of scary, it is yet to play out completely and this is not your usual perpetrator/victim scenario.
Yes if. In self defense. And yes my morality does not allow me to be objective. I think both of them were/are deviant. But again that is my view
What two people do is none of my business and I normally do not care but because it is Bauer.
She did ask for it. And a big part of me thinks Bauer was set up. I would like to know if her side tried to settle before this went public. But I doubt it because it would have to be reported pretty quickly while injuries were fresh I would think.
it has my interest because it’s bauer

your right Bauer actions were scary. As smart as he is he has always come off as very childlike to me. He should have seen this coming.

Again, in relation to the overall situation, the legality of what happened is only part of it.

I have said on multiple posts that Bauer could absolutely be cleared of legal wrong doing, and that he might not even be charged.

Although, think about this. An elderly man was charged with murder for shooting his wife at her request, because she was suffering more than she could stand. He was deemed legally guilty, but public opinion was generally on his side, because most folks felt that he acted morally. It was viewed as an act of mercy. The public was sympathetic to both him and his wife.

In spite of what some say on here about the prevalence of this kind of violent sexual activity, in no way will the public view breaking a woman's skull as morally acceptable, simply because she asked to be slapped. The public in this case may have little sympathy for the accuser, but has zero sympathy for Bauer. It was an act...possibly legal...of violence against a woman.

And the public buys tickets to baseball games, and buys the products that sustain the financial foundation of MLB thru advertising. Every time Bauer is seen on a mound will be a negative for the Dodgers and for MLB in terms of PR...and for the advertisers.

Bauer, the Dodgers, MLB, and advertisers can't escape it, because Bauer admitted that he did it. Within the baseball community...which includes the fans..he is now a pariah...with the mark of Cain. The 40 million dollar woman beater and sexual deviant. Legality won't matter. The fan reaction will be brutal.

And that will be taken into account by every team when Bauer is looking for his next contract....if he is even allowed to play.

Years from now this incident will be among the very first items in his obituary.

There's a huge generational gap here, and I believe you're way off base. If he's actually cleared of wrongdoing, nobody is going to care about his kinks. To suggest he might be banned from the MLB when we have confirmed abusers taking the field on a daily basis is a tad outlandish.

He will be cleared. He will not be banned
Generational gap. What those two did does happen today. It’s not the norm. The only people that say it’s “the norm” are the people that do it
To say her after pictures are now the new normal in sexual relations is nonsense
It happens for sure but nowhere near the amount of times that make it normal

the only thing Bauer is guilty of is being incredibly stupid. He did not know this girl. He is rich and famous And norm or not know we know he gets off on hitting girls. But that’s fine. It’s normal

The extent to which they went, no, not the norm in my opinion. I don't believe anybody has presented it as such either. Rough sex though? Choking? Slapping? That's quite common. I don't believe any of it falls under "deviant" behavior, but I'm also not one to judge a person's kinks. That's assuming the acts are consensual, of course.

I'm still not totally sure what to make of this particular situation. Maybe it's the cynic in me, but regardless of the outcome, I doubt Bauer sees any long-lasting repercussions.

Be careful with the words you use. Is this "normal"..... probably not? Is this a kink that people like, absolutely. As @Out of the Rafters at the Q keeps saying though we need a lot more information. This specific story by this woman describes a kink that people have, but what we dont know any of the other details around it.

Ill gladly give stories of girls that I knew/dated that had very specific kinks (in another section- though i have told most of those stories), people get off on all sorts of things.

He may not be banned.

But he is now the kind of distraction that no team wants...the kind of publicity no team wants...and that will have a huge economic impact on Bauers future earnings.

In terms of his future beyond his present contract, he is Yasiel Puig and Colin Kaepernick in spades.

Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and the Atlantic...some heavy hitters and opinion makers...have all come out against him starting on Sunday. There will be more. At least two leaders in women advocacy have already jumped in.

You're blowing this way out of proportion.

Aroldis Chapman choked his girlfriend out in a fight, fired eight gunshots, and got suspended 30 games. He became a world champion later that season before signing the largest contract ever for a reliever in the winter.
