I've been on the Guardians bandwagon this whole time, so I'd be happy with that. I wouldn't be mad over Spiders either.. not my first choice, but it doesn't suck. Guardians for the win.

So random ass Tyler Johnson and the MoreeForYouCleveland Twitter account can just reach out to their “sources” and get definite info about the Indians name but Lloyd; Meisel, Bell, Ocker, and all the other National and local baseball writers and sportscasters have nothing.

Hmmmmmm. Which is more likely to be true?

Definitely see it as a situation where if it's Guardians in the end they take credit for being first and if it's not they say they changed course. Sam The Bullshit Whisperer-style reporting!
 
I do think Guardians is the best guess. Seems to be a name that has a loose connection to the city and isn't being used by other teams so it seems a bit fresh. And since it retains the "dians" part of the current name they can even carry across the same jersey font. And for the "Dolan is cheap" crowd, it will be less expensive to change the stadium signage.

Yeah, I just posted the tweets because I wanted to know if those were the ones that started this discussion in the first place. They are more than likely bogus, but who knows? A gym worker scooped LeBron coming back, so... :chuckle:
 
I'm thinking more and more about Spidians.....let's meet in the middle on this one. Still can get the Marvel tie in while being original and nod to the history of Cleveland.....
 
Should be the Cleveland Cavalry. That way we can have two Cleveland Cavs.
 
We should start a rumor: The Cleveland Rockets.

So named by a soon-to-be minority owner!
 
I like Guardians because then we're actually only changing half of our name. Literally just taking off the first two letters and adding a different four.

Edit: Wait, how does everyone feel about Cleveland Dians?
