If he retires does it save the Cavs anything? There’s no way he’s going to be healthy for anything.

I've said for a long time that I don't think Kyrie is happy playing basketball in the NBA, and I could see him retire early.
He’ll collect his checks and do just enough to make max money. The knee injury in 2015 finals (I think it was 15) changed how he competed.

He was putrid and obviously washed. He did the right thing.

He can be washed on the bench. Love signed that contract and should honor it or give back half the money. Why have all that dead cap space? Damn, that was a terrible signing.
The guy’s body can’t handle the pounding of an 82 game season anymore. He ought to retire. Of course, I doubt his agent or fiancée will allow him to, knowing that he can collect $60M over the next two seasons regardless of whether he plays a single minute or not. The Cavs essentially gave Love a lottery ticket.

Basically and that's the reason why I would not buy him out. We as fans had to suffer from Love's horrible extension, so Love should suffer on the Cavs. Don't care how he feels or the league. Retire, give half the money back or sit on the bench. No other options.

These NBA contracts suck. You're stuck. If you buy a player out, the money should come off the books.

I will never understand the need people have to take personal shots at Love solely because his body is breaking down.
It has to do almost entirely with the contract. Love was a good player in his time and he made significant contributions to the championship team. I don’t believe we could’ve won a title without his contributions and for that I will always be grateful.

People are upset that Love is tying up so much of our salary cap & contributing so little. Helping to get a well-respected coach, in John Bielein, fired and the occasional hissy fits that he has thrown certainly haven’t endeared himself to Cavs fans either. He needs to go.

It not just his body breaking down we understand that, but then you add on some of his, on the court temper tantrum’s that screams I want to get the hell out of here, not to mention that embarrass the shit out of this team…..you don’t feel sorry for him as much….

His body is so shot he can't manage to sit on the bench and maybe play 5 minutes a night.

What a disaster.

Maybe they asked him to step down instead of cutting him. They might have said they wanted to bring in someone like Jarrett Allen for more size and Love understood that he was standing in the way of someone that can contribute more than him from being able to go to the Olympics.

The question is if they offered a spot to Allen would he take it when he is coming up on a big pay day. The timing of the Olympics and free agency could force someone like Allen to decline because he won't want to risk injury.

I responded to a post calling him a “loser at heart” because he pulled out of the Olympics citing that his body wasn’t healthy enough for him to help the team.
