2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looks like Beal is now mulling over whether or not to request a trade. It's going to be a crazy offseason.
Honestly we need to get in on this. Since the Cavs don't want to keep Sexton, why not Sexton and a couple future first for Beal?

Garland
Beal
Okoro
Mobley
Allen

Looks like a deep playing team to me eventually

If Beal is demanding a trade out of DC it's to play for a contender.

Assuming GS is offering #7, 14, and Wiseman the Cavs would probably have to include #3 to top that offer which is a big NO. Bottom line Beal is just on a different timeline than the Cavs' young players.

The bigger picture for the Cavs...If they are going to try and trade Sexton I don't see any teams clamoring for him until the big fish (Dame, Beal) are off the market.

Beal def doesn't want to come here and trading the farm for him is how you turn into the Sacramento Kings of the last 15 years.

And is Beal all that special? I wanted him in that draft to play with Kyrie but he doesn’t fit this team timeline and would rather trade for more picks in this draft and let the kids develop together

I'd only want in on a deal for Beal so we can send Sexton to Washington in order to get some of the picks they're likely to get for him. If they do trade Beal, they're likely stuck with Russ. Maybe Collin will help reset, not rebuild. Maybe Russ wants his former teammate (Love) back?

Yes Beal is ALL that special. Exactly the type of player the Cavs need…..a player that shoot, pull up with a defender in his face and create off the dribble with the ability to get to and finish at the rim.
But all that being said I don’t want to give up the 3rd pick and any other assets for a player in his 30s….this is a rebuild and we should acquiring players that can be viewed as long term solutions. Which means 22-28!

Good point. Forgot that the LeBron years are over. No one wants to come here.

I think that's the hardest part if they want to trade anyone on this roster. Getting someone who wants to be here is going to be tough. If someone isn't happy in their current situation, I just can't see how coming here will be the solution that player is looking for.

We can trade for role players and have a better chance at retaining them. I think realistically we have to build around the flaws of our core if we want to sustain any sort of success.

Beal is certainly on a different timeline. This might be a fantastic opportunity to maximize Sexton's value by getting in as a third party in a Beal trade though.

Typically, it's the third team that gets the best return on its assets because the other two teams are so motivated to get something done, esp when a stud like Beal is being moved. Just look at how we ended up with Jarrett Allen.

Getting a piece like Collin could certainly soften the blow of losing Beal, and if a GM is going to recklessly throw out assets to land a big piece, we might be able to cash in.

Besides that, Beal/Okoro don't fit well together.

Well obviously Okoro is part of the Beal trade.

Kidding, why would we want Beal, future stars not current stars.

I decided to listen to the Bill Simmons mock draft pod because I like the work done by some of the guys there (KOC, Tjarks) and I forgot how much the mainstream guys just do not give a shit about the Cavs. It is amazing to me that they see the pre-2021 Detroit roster and think "this is a good core group of players." Same for Houston, that roster is horrible outside of Wood and maybe Tate.

BS was actively rooting for the Cavs to trade 3 down for the OKC 6+sme other shitty asset so Presti could flip 3+future LAC pick for 1. Why the hell would we do that? I would be fine keeping any of the top 5 guys in this draft over trading down so someone else can get Mobley or Barnes or Green. I could see a trade down if Mobley/Cade are both gone but I would just take Green there and roll with it.

They (other than KOC) also spent a solid 4 minutes talking about how Sexton is glorified Jordan Clarkson. Like these guys are supposed to be hoop nerds and they only watch like 6 teams. It is incredibly disappointing that everyone acts like we have the worst core group in the NBA (before the 2021 draft). We are in a much better position than several teams, including Det, Chi, Sac, Indy, and Hou. I would argue SAS, ORL and a few others im probably forgetting

Probably not the best place for this but I got really frustrated after listening to that and figured people on here would get it.

Since Lebrons name is floating around here, some of you have to realize that even when he was here, most people wanted him gone to another team. They had no respect for Cleveland then and certainly don't now..add to all the drama that has happened and it's easy to see.
