2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah forget about Simmons.

Hah, if Pop can't handle questions from the media without being a dick, imagine how he reacted to this...

I'm a little surprised that Philly hasn't been rumored to be a suitor for Collin. In the event that they do keep Simmons, wouldn't Sexton be a good fit in their backcourt?

For real. I don’t know what the sixers are thinking. Is crazy at some point they had jimmy harris embiid and were one win away now it seems they desperate. Most of their assets are gone. They might go in rebuild mode shortly unless a dumb team gives them the world.
then sixers better get used to being ghosted by simmons, both on the court and off the court. L

#3
Garland (#2 potential)
Allen (#2 potential)
Sexton (firm #3)

#4 -#7 rotational contributors
Okoro (#3 potential)
Nance
Windler (potential contributor if healthy/reliable)

If we drafted Mobley and the guys showed continued growth this season, I would approach next offseason with this best case scenario for what's in my cupboard...

Yeah, my whole wishlist was prefaced with the assumption that we have Mobley in tow. I also had Moody, Wagner, and Johnson ahead of Duarte as preferred picks in that late lottery range. So, I guess that means I'd ideally be looking at Duarte just outside the lottery in the 15-20 range (otherwise, those other guys would still be on the board).

Not the thread for it but I think you are underrating Okoro's ceiling here. He could be a number 2 guy. Conversely I think Allen is being vastly overrated. He is a 4th guy at best (and quite close to that ceiling already)

I'll be your huckleberry

Give me like an hour to get back from taking my team to lunch we can strike this conversation up

A #2 guy is Kyrie. You think Okoro has any shot at being Kyrie?

My eye would be towards Iggy.....what development plan gets Okoro to be a guy as valuable as Iggy was to GSW?

I don't think it's likely but I think best case for Okoro is a shorter Jimmy Butler. I think he could reach #2 status but most likely Okoro peaks as a #3. Allen I see as a #4. Really good defender and rebounder but will never be a key offensive player.

I would probably aim more towards Marcus Smart than Jimmy. Jimmy is a legit top 12-15 player. He's one of the best two way guys. It is pretty tough for me to envision a world where Okoro ever approaches fringe #1 status.

Okoro seems like more of a +1 OFF / +2 DEF guy when you peek at Raptor comps. Where you hope his offense becomes average to a slight positive and his defense one of the best 10 or so wings in the league.

Iggy landed in these zones as well......13-14 Iggy was +.9/+2.3. Then hovering as a 4+ WAR player for most of his prime.

This sounds bad but a 4-5 WAR player would make him one of the best 60-80 or so guys in the league, which I think is a really good complimentary player.

Absolute ceiling seems more like Draymond to me......+1 OFF / +3 DEF. Super impactful defender, a streaky but mainly reliable offensive player in a supporting role.

He's young......so a lot can change.......but we would all have to see a pretty crazy leap to start considering a Jimmy Butler arc with Okoro.

Iggy is a realistic roadmap for him I think, but not were I would view his ceiling. If Okoro is able to tighten his handle a bit and get some consistency in his jumper, I think he could be a full 3-level scorer who can also be a lockdown 1v1 defender. I dont expect him to rack up a ton of stocks but just be an all-defensive level positional defender. Rich man's Caron Butler?

It is just so rare for a player to be both an impactful defender and an impactful offensive player. The list is miniscule.

Even a bar as low as +3.5 OFF / +2 DEF.

Last 3 years, that is a list of:

Giannis (3), PG (3), Embiid (3), Jimmy (2), Conley (2), AD (2), Harden, Kawhi, Jokic

Think about how wild that is. Only Giannis, PG and Embiid have managed to do it all 3 years.

Kawhi has only done it once.

I just don't see how anyone can realistically think that is Okoro's ceiling.......but I don't want to get too side tracked here. :chuckle:
