Week #5 - Baker Bounce Back @ Bolts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We already know who Baker is at this point. But to crucify him for not winning the game in a situation where it is less than 2 minutes with no TO, bad shoulder and all that is crazy. Even the greatest QBs would have a difficult time executing that.

BTW does KS not trust Chubb in game deciding drives?

Funny how there seems to be no defense of that to be found...

The problem is that they couldn’t trust him to do it the drive before either.

When we started the last drive the stat was shown that the Browns had a 12% chance to win. Not sure how they come up with that but I believe it, or it's close to that.

No timeouts and 80 yards to go with no timeouts is not a likely good outcome.

But yeah let's base everything we think of the team/season on that drive.

Game was lost when we couldn't get 10 yards the drive before. Part of me thinks we would have been better off if the Chargers didn't miss the last extra point.

Can’t you criticize the process there?

Set the win aside. Everyone should be disturbed that that was the result when having 1:30 left and needing 75 yards.

We didn’t even make it to mid field did we?

Losing that game where Baker zips the ball around and shows an ability to give the team a chance is different than him just looking lost again in a big spot.

I won't sit here and argue that the defense was great today, but I'd sooner pin blame on the offense for not being able to execute a game winning drive with 1:31 on the clock.
Our offense had no time outs, and our three top offensive tackles were all out. We had to keep guys in to try to chip pass rushers, which meant that the guys who were going out for passes were blanketed. Their pass rushers could absolutely tee off on our guys, while still keeping 7 dropped back. Hell, on that last Hail Mary, our pass catchers even took each other out of the play.

I don't even know how to feel right now. I'm so pissed.

Regardless that the Browns blew two coverages and Williams walked into the endzone wide open, I keep coming back to that bullshit PI call.

I'd say they should allow those calls to be reviewed, but they had that last year, and they pretty much never reversed the call. The Browns got hosed despite all the miscues.

So pissed.

For the don’t trust Baker crowd.

Stefanski presser said that he played conservative because he had back up tackles and didn’t want anything bad to happen.

You either trust his words or you don’t.

What’s bugs me so much about that PI is that it rewarded a MASSIVE risk that did not deserve payoff. The Browns should have gotten the fruits of that failure by the chargers

If your team is in position to have to win games with 1:30 on the clock and no TOs, needing a touchdown then you won't be winning most of those.
I can think of several QBs that could do it.

I don't pin it all on Baker here, who has been average/below average this year, even against (at times) subpar competition. The previous drive might have been Stefanski's worst as a playcaller.

But... this is Baker's fourth year as a starter in the league. Time is running out for him to prove that he is an upper tier starting QB in this league.

That makes it worse to me - not for Baker but for KS. He needed to slam the door shut and he effectively neutered the team while giving it back to a very hot offense. Doesn’t make sense to me

ObJ could go catch less for the next 10 weeks and I swear the same crew would still defend him.

They threw him the ball 3 times. Tell me how he’s being used in this offense?
