Week #5 - Baker Bounce Back @ Bolts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Funny no one is talking about the defense in here. LOL

Have a good night fellas.

Defense was horrible. Joe Woods needs to be fired. It isn't acceptable that his players can't even figure out who they need to pick up. It's not just one guys screwing up, it's everyone in the secondary. Guys don't seem to know where they are suppose to be.

We spend the entire game and gameplan doing whatever we can to keep our QB from having to do something very difficult.

Once a team gets us in a spot where our QB needs to do something other than boot or PA off of a stud run game, we lose.

Is this not an accurate assessment?

Let's just call it what it is.

Baker Mayfield is quite literally in the very best QB situation in the entire NFL. He has the best offensive line in the league. He has the best running game in the league. He has a coach who understands down and distance and when to go for it (for the most part). He has enough talented pass catchers at WR, TE and RB who routinely win 1 on 1 matchups and get open.

The issue is Baker. He's the weak link of the offense.

If the Browns had a better QB, they'd be 5-0 and probably the overwhelming Super Bowl favorite.

You aren't going to win many games giving up 45+ points. Just terrible defense today.

Injuries really killed us. The healthy guys were all tired as hell by the end of the game because there was nobody decent to give them a breather.

Browns have absolutely snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in road games against the AFC’s two best teams. Zero faith in the defense against a quality offense and currently zero faith that Stefanski and Baker can muster anything on a potential game winning drive.

Just no way in hell you should be flying back with a L after that one.

Because they arent there yet. Plain and simple.

Holy fuck. Hebert gets 2 free throws for touchdowns gifted to him by the Browns defensive backfield mental mistakes. Then he gets a 3rd TD gifted to him by one of the worst PI calls I've ever seen.

But here you talk about him like he's some kind of fucking god, and Mayfield (who got nothing gifted all game, and was handicapped by KS's play calling) is trash.

You clearly have an agenda against Mayfield.
Anyone blaming Mayfield for this loss is a fucking idiot. All the blame deservedly goes to the referee who called PI and our head coach.

A few notes:

- give it up for the practice squad level players stepping onto the OL and playing effectively.
- with that said we were definitely less effective spreading the ball around to backs and tight ends because they were helping up front. I’m willing to bet this also impacted our ability to go deep as often as we’d like to have
- Bake played very well but it’s CLEAR the gameplan is modified right now compared to early in the year and the second half of last year.
- we miss Landry so damn much. There’s no better player for Baker in the two minute drill when perfect routes and timing are essential to those mid level routes.
- get Gillan out immediately. He’s holding back a talented special teams.
- Hard to grade the defense in this one. We were really really banged up. Key starters missing everywhere and I’m sure that contributed to the secondary miscues that led to two easy long touchdowns.
- Stefanski will want that second to last drive back and I expect he’ll admit that readily… I really have no other issues with his gameplan. The last drive was more an issue of not having Landry and the throes no being there more than it was a play call issue. Baker was just forced to go to his dump off option each time. I’ll repeat… we miss Landry.

With all of the above said… we spotted them two touchdowns with secondary gaffs, the refs spotted them a third on an egregious 4th and 4 bail out PI that renders all of the above irrelevant, and we were far and away the more injured team… and we still had them on the ropes.

Lots to build on with this one in the road against a good team… gotta get healthy.

I don't think it's Stefanski, he can't make baker through downfield
