No way. Russell Wilson takes so many deep shots to Tyler Lockett. He would give Odell at least 2 of those per game.

I mean yes, for the most part the offense would look the same but Russell Wilson would definitely open this shit up a lo more than Baker does. It might change some of Stefanski’s coaching tendencies having a guy like that.

I cannot stress this enough. Baker is entirely capable of throwing a deep ball. Even today, on the Hail Mary to end it? Njokou fell and Baker STILL hit him.

The scheme does not reward deep shots because, realistically, they’re low success regardless of who you use. The Browns had 7 20+ yard plays. That’s INSANE in an NFL game.

We are quite clearly a more complete and higher functioning offense than the Rams.

Unless we’re swapping for a Mahomes level player, we’d likely continue to focus on run first PA because we simply outclass every team in the entire league doing it.

Like, for example- if we had Russ? I guarantee you Nothing would change from a play calling perspective. Russ’s legs would just add an extra layer to an already potent offense.

I don't think the play calling would change too much with a different QB, nor do I think it would need to change all that much.

I just think there's opportunities that a better QB, one better at handling pressure and more comfortable with making progressions, would be able to take advantage of.

With as good as this OL and running game are, a better QB would make this offense virtually unstoppable based on what I've seen.

Your opinion.

Out of ten, as it stands right now, how successful is our offense?

Last year the team found ways to win close games… this year seems like the opposite…

I disagree.

I think with a better QB we can have a sexy offense. We can run the same scheme but with a guy that doesn’t need to be controlled? Spoon fed? Guided? Whatever it is that Stefanski has to do with Baker.

For example. The main thing Dan Orlovsky mentions when he talks about The Rams is that Sean McVay finally has a guy who he thinks can get the most out of what he wants to do. It’s not like Jared Goff sucked in his offense. It’s just that a guy like Matt Stafford is so much better.

I think deep down Stefanski knows that there is a ceiling with Baker that in order to hit, everything has to go right. There are other QB’s that don’t require as much fine tuning like the Baker Mayfield’s and Jared Goff’s. I think that’s who we should be trying to acquire. Those QB’s that don’t need an overhaul on their seasoning.
You're projecting your own opinions on to Stefanski. Bottom line is, Stefanski calls the plays the way he calls them because that's who HE is, not because of Mayfield. And one other thing, Mayfield has shown over and over again that he can hit any pass on the field, as well as any other QB. He can hit the deep outs, deep posts, you name it. If we don't use those routes it's because Stefanski doesn't coach them, he doesn't insert or install them into the offense the way other coaches do. Mayfield runs what KS tells him to run, makes the throws KS tells him to make, period. If Mayfield went off script I'm pretty sure that's the one thing that would cause Stefanski to move on from him.

Virtually unstoppable....

Browns put up 42 on the cutting edge, defensive genius Brandon Staley. They punted 2 times. They are already virtually unstoppable

We’re The Warriors before Steve Kerr replaced Mark Jackson. Except in this scenario Stefanski isn’t Mark Jackson. Baker is lolololololololol.

So who’s our Steve Kerr going to be?

The Browns had 7 20+ yard plays. That’s INSANE in an NFL game.

I mean this is true, but it just feels like this is skewed significantly because of the abnormal amount of extreme YAC plays the Browns had today in the passing game due to Chargers missed tackles.

Three of those chunk plays were runs. Of the four passes, none of them traveled 20 yards in the air.

Pass to Njoku 22-yard gain: ball traveled 19 yards in air, 3 YAC
Pass to Njoku 31-yard gain: ball traveled 0 yards in air (screen behind LOS), 31 YAC
Pass to DPJ 42-yard gain: ball traveled 15 yards in air, 27 YAC
Pass to Njoku 71-yard gain: ball traveled 16 yards, 55 YAC

10/10 when in advantageous situations.

1/10 when in disadvantageous situations.

They create a LOT of advantageous situations which is awesome compared to the alternative.

But IMO it's really difficult to win a Super Bowl without a better ability to succeed when things are not ideal (3rd and medium to long).

Did they release expected yards yet?

both the DPJ and Njoku TD plays were the result of winning one x one battles. Win some, lose some.

The TE screen was tremendous timing.

Moving the ball is moving the ball. We did effortlessly, except one drive.

Fair enough- do you agree that, with Landry, the play calling was more beneficial for success?

I agree entirely that success on 3rd and medium is a pain point. I don’t have All 22, admittedly. I’d like to see more schemed throws.

So, you think a QB should be penalized in how he is evaluated because of how many yards the ball travels in the air, even though the QB put the ball in place when and where it needed to be for the play to suceed?

And conversely... Herbert had 2 absolute gifts given to him by our defense today. Your method of evaluation rewards Hebert for making throws that any high school QB could have made.

Sounds legit.
