A fucking two year old could see that if you gave the Chargers the ball back, you were gonna lose.

Should have played for a first down. Maybe if they actually tried to convert on 3rd and 10 it wouldn’t have even gotten to 4th down.

Winner. Was not rocket science what was going to happen if they got it back.

Not afraid to say I could rest a lot easier knowing we tried to get a first down and failed on offense, rather than giving them the ball back against this fucking D. Helplessly watching them shred us and our timeouts was the depths of misery.

I would have rather saw a fucking end around to OBJ on 1st down than what we got. Browns had the running game working, a play action would've been so clutch right there on 1st down to be honest. Even if it's for 6 yards. It makes the next obvious run play alot easier. We folded in another big game. That's now 3 in a row. KC, KC, Today.

I think we figure it out though. Especially the defense if healthy.

You don’t “make a habit” of anything. You play within the game- in this particular game, the Chargers we’re playing ultra aggressively. It was clear the Browns needed to also. They didn’t and instead decided to turtle up and thus were effortlessly beaten when LA got the ball back, as literally anyone could have predicted.

I can 100% confidently say we had a better chance to win by actually trying to get a first down on that drive, than punting and giving Herbert the ball at midfield down 1 against a depleted defense that hadn’t stopped him all day. 100% can say that.
Hindsight is 20/20. Of course you can say that with Gillan's poor punt and the defense giving up the big play to Cook who did squat all game.

You don't go for a 4th and 6 on your own 18 with the lead in the game. Ever. You put faith in your defense and in the very least try to force them to make a long field goal. Our defense wasn't good but we've stopped them more than once - a turnover, a sack, a hold/penalty.

Some of you are so hot that we lost the game that you're making ridiculous statements such as that - cool off and relax for a bit.

Hindsight is 20/20, except I was literally begging them not to punt that fucking ball back at the time, and clearly wasn’t the only one.

Again, if Kevin actually tried to get a first in that series in the first place, it probably doesn’t make it to 4th down anyways. But, he didn’t.

He doesn’t trust his QB. Is this not obvious?

Doesn't make going for it on a 4th and 6 on your own 18 any less ridiculous. Make a habit of that and you'd be getting fired pretty quickly.

But this game isn’t a habit. We probably won’t have another like it all year.

I thought, after the draw, that they were going to give it a shot, knowing that it maximized their ability to have clock. Shane the punt was an absolute fucking shit show.

What makes you think that Stefanski trust Baker?

Because he hasn’t been benched for a guy that’s proven successful in this exact scheme.

Because on these red zone fourth downs they are almost always throws? I believe the Hunt TD was the first that WASN'T a designed pass.

For a team that openly values 7 over 3, they throw a LOT to pass on points with a guy the play caller supposedly doesn’t trust.

From watching the game, it does not seem like we push the ball downfield enough.

How often do we throw deep outs or deep crossing routes?

The game plan seems a bit……….reserved…

You’re correct, we don’t!

Because that’s not our scheme? It wasn’t in Minnesota, either, until AFTER Kevin left. When you have Dalvin Cook and Chubb/Hunt, your focus is a lot different.

We should ALWAYS be throwing off of run plays; that’s for the benefit of our team. The offense is not sexy, it will never be sexy.

I disagree.

I think with a better QB we can have a sexy offense. We can run the same scheme but with a guy that doesn’t need to be controlled? Spoon fed? Guided? Whatever it is that Stefanski has to do with Baker.

For example. The main thing Dan Orlovsky mentions when he talks about The Rams is that Sean McVay finally has a guy who he thinks can get the most out of what he wants to do. It’s not like Jared Goff sucked in his offense. It’s just that a guy like Matt Stafford is so much better.

I think deep down Stefanski knows that there is a ceiling with Baker that in order to hit, everything has to go right. There are other QB’s that don’t require as much fine tuning like the Baker Mayfield’s and Jared Goff’s. I think that’s who we should be trying to acquire. Those QB’s that don’t need an overhaul on their seasoning.

We are quite clearly a more complete and higher functioning offense than the Rams.

Unless we’re swapping for a Mahomes level player, we’d likely continue to focus on run first PA because we simply outclass every team in the entire league doing it.

Like, for example- if we had Russ? I guarantee you Nothing would change from a play calling perspective. Russ’s legs would just add an extra layer to an already potent offense.

No way. Russell Wilson takes so many deep shots to Tyler Lockett. He would give Odell at least 2 of those per game.

I mean yes, for the most part the offense would look the same but Russell Wilson would definitely open this shit up a lo more than Baker does. It might change some of Stefanski’s coaching tendencies having a guy like that.
