Super Bowl LVI - Ohio vs Odell

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I believe the only game the Ravens actually won by themselves is the Broncos game.

The other games are just lucks(detroit 66 yrd fg, KC fumble, blankenship missed fgs and PAT)

I'll give in that Lamar has tremendously improved in his passing. Watching the games show he is not rushing to run but actually stays in the pocket to go through his progressions.

Now everywhere you read: Lamar is a top 3 QB

People are essentially saying he's better than Mahomes now

Brady 1A, Rodgers 1B, Lamar 1LOL

Interesting dynamic in the Raiders locker room with CARL on that team. Openly gay member of the team with a head coach who turns out to be a massive bigot.
I don't think Gruden is homophobic.

I think he's a Baby Boomer straight dude in sports. And I think for athletes and sports folks, even young guys coming up into college, have a sense of humor that involves making jokes about the gays.

I think it is just typical locker room talk and not indicative of Gruden being an active homophobe along the lines of guys who beat up gay guys or actively donate money to Focus on the Family and shit.

And, not to get political, maybe he has a point about Michael Sam.

All that said, I cannot believe he was stupid enough to commit such thoughts to writing. Dumb.

Sorry to say I missed all the excitement. I was on the road today.

But two thoughts:

1) Gruden is a moron for sending thoughts, jokes etc., of that nature via email. The fuck? And, wow, this wasn't just a handful of cherry-picked emails. Wow, guy.

2) Dan Snyder continues to demonstrate why he should be stripped naked, tarred and feathered and flogged out of the NFL. He is a poster-boy of the phenomenon of NFL owners being garbage human beings.

Was it stupid that Gruden sent these emails? Yep. For sure. But what type of malicious asshole decides to release them just to destroy a man's career?

Again, Snyder needs to be fucking prosecuted for all the horrible shit that happened under his watch, stripped naked, tarred and feathered and flogged out of the NFL. His wealth and possessions appropriated and given to the needy children of the District of Columbia and the nearest local Native-American college fund.

Fuck that guy, and fuck the NFL for allowing guys like him to continue to associate with the NFL.

I'm saying right now he is a runner and one of the worst passers in the NFL. His running is what makes it so that he has 1 on 1 matchups on practically every play.

It blows my mind how anyone can watch Lamar and think "yeah, teams respect this guy as a passer"

They dont. His own coach doesn't.
It kills me to say this, but Lamar has been better at coming through late in games than Baker.

Who would you rather have as QB - Lamar or Baker?

The idea that there is some template a QB has to fit to be effective is ridiculous. His threat to run opens up opportunities to pass. If he's not a gifted passer but gets the job done - who cares?

I despise the Ravens, the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland for stealing our team but Lamar is a highly effective QB playing at MVP level.

Was Snyder the one that released the emails? I was under the impression that the emails in question were unearthed because the league was investigating the shitshow of a work environment that Snyder enabled, not because Snyder tried to ruin Gruden.

Chris Rock made the point that it's stupid to hate any group because they'll be in your life. If you hate Latinos then your daughter will marry one. Here Gruden writes homophobic emails and yet he has Carl Nassib on his team.

Mark Davis should have fired Gruden immediately for stupidity and awful judgment.

Also - Gruden is making a fortune running his mouth on ESPN and he writes an email to Washington savaging the Ginger Hammer? That's a major ESPN customer. Just idiotic.

I'm just stunned that this dude could be so foolish. He's ruined his life and caused pain to a lot of people.

Really sad part is that there's no way he could have treated any black player (or Carl Nassib) in a disrespectful way or he would be out in short order. But the damning emails wipe all of that out.

Only aspect of this story that's not shocking is that the Washington Football Team was involved. Well before Dan Snyder they had George Preston Marshall as their owner. In addition to banning black players from his team until 1962 he refused to allow an announcement of the Attack on Pearl Harbor because he insisted that the PA was for Redskins announcements only - although there were multiple announcements for Generals to call their office so people knew something was up. Cleveland Rams did beat the Redskins 15-14 for the 1945 NFL Championship because Sammy Baugh through a pass from the end zone and it hit the upright - safety! GPM was furious and forced a rule change in the offseason LOL.

This.

The mental gymnastics that Browns fans and many on this form use to denigrate Lamar in a sad attempt to justify why he's not an elite QB are Nadia-esque.

Don't know who posted it, but the take "Well, his throws are easier because teams have to cover the run" is beyond stupid. That's the point! That's what makes Lamar such a dangerous weapon.

Oh yeah, and he's about 2 years younger than Baker.

Has he gotten it done in the playoffs yet? Not yet, but neither has any AFC QB not named Mahomes.

It sucks but stop kidding yourself.

Another thing about Lamar - since he came into the league, the conventional wisdom was that he wouldn't last as a running QB...that he will get beat up too much.

But I rarely, if ever, see him take big hits. Like I can't recall a single big hit - he's certainly been less beat up than Baker or Burrow.

He's what Michael Vick was supposed to be. Vick would have a game once a season that made you think he was revolutionary but he couldn't sustain it. This Lamar cat is improving his passing, he's young and he's got a great coach. I had a feeling of dread when Big Ben was drafted by Pittsburgh and had the same feeling when Baltimore drafted Lamar. I hate & despise the Ravens but this dude is genuinely scary. Can't wait to play them and see if JOK can do something about him.

The saddest part is the Browns fans that put Lamar Jackson down are doing that in favor of Baker Mayfield. I could see if we had Herbert, Mahomes, Murray, or Dak. We don't. We have Baker Mayfield and we're hating on Lamar Jackson?

Dude won an MVP and there's still people here that don't think that he's good. There's no explanation for that other than just flat out being a hater and I get it if you're a Browns fan you don't have to like The Ravens or Lamar Jackson but to sit up here still to this day and put down Lamar in favor of Baker is some hater shit.

I don’t believe in bashing players just because they play for a rival. That’s petty & immature.

Lamar Jackson is a freak of nature, who is revolutionizing the QB position in the NFL. Simply put, the Browns were wrong about him as were 30 other teams. We’d all take Lamar over Baker and anyone who says otherwise is lying or delusional.
