I don't think Gruden is homophobic.Interesting dynamic in the Raiders locker room with CARL on that team. Openly gay member of the team with a head coach who turns out to be a massive bigot.
It kills me to say this, but Lamar has been better at coming through late in games than Baker.I'm saying right now he is a runner and one of the worst passers in the NFL. His running is what makes it so that he has 1 on 1 matchups on practically every play.
It blows my mind how anyone can watch Lamar and think "yeah, teams respect this guy as a passer"
They dont. His own coach doesn't.
Was Snyder the one that released the emails? I was under the impression that the emails in question were unearthed because the league was investigating the shitshow of a work environment that Snyder enabled, not because Snyder tried to ruin Gruden. Was it stupid that Gruden sent these emails? Yep. For sure. But what type of malicious asshole decides to release them just to destroy a man's career?
Chris Rock made the point that it's stupid to hate any group because they'll be in your life. If you hate Latinos then your daughter will marry one. Here Gruden writes homophobic emails and yet he has Carl Nassib on his team.I don't think Gruden is homophobic.
I think he's a Baby Boomer straight dude in sports. And I think for athletes and sports folks, even young guys coming up into college, have a sense of humor that involves making jokes about the gays.
I think it is just typical locker room talk and not indicative of Gruden being an active homophobe along the lines of guys who beat up gay guys or actively donate money to Focus on the Family and shit.
And, not to get political, maybe he has a point about Michael Sam.
All that said, I cannot believe he was stupid enough to commit such thoughts to writing. Dumb.
It kills me to say this, but Lamar has been better at coming through late in games than Baker.
Who would you rather have as QB - Lamar or Baker?
The idea that there is some template a QB has to fit to be effective is ridiculous. His threat to run opens up opportunities to pass. If he's not a gifted passer but gets the job done - who cares?
I despise the Ravens, the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland for stealing our team but Lamar is a highly effective QB playing at MVP level.
He's what Michael Vick was supposed to be. Vick would have a game once a season that made you think he was revolutionary but he couldn't sustain it. This Lamar cat is improving his passing, he's young and he's got a great coach. I had a feeling of dread when Big Ben was drafted by Pittsburgh and had the same feeling when Baltimore drafted Lamar. I hate & despise the Ravens but this dude is genuinely scary. Can't wait to play them and see if JOK can do something about him.Another thing about Lamar - since he came into the league, the conventional wisdom was that he wouldn't last as a running QB...that he will get beat up too much.
But I rarely, if ever, see him take big hits. Like I can't recall a single big hit - he's certainly been less beat up than Baker or Burrow.
This.
The mental gymnastics that Browns fans and many on this form use to denigrate Lamar in a sad attempt to justify why he's not an elite QB are Nadia-esque.
Don't know who posted it, but the take "Well, his throws are easier because teams have to cover the run" is beyond stupid. That's the point! That's what makes Lamar such a dangerous weapon.
Oh yeah, and he's about 2 years younger than Baker.
Has he gotten it done in the playoffs yet? Not yet, but neither has any AFC QB not named Mahomes.
It sucks but stop kidding yourself.
This is called being a fan.but to sit up here still to this day and put down Lamar in favor of Baker is some hater shit.
I don’t believe in bashing players just because they play for a rival. That’s petty & immature. The saddest part is the Broiwns fans that put Lamar Jackson down are doing that in favor of Baker Mayfield. I could see if we had Herbert, Mahomes, Murray, or Dak. We don't. We have Baker Mayfield and we're hating on Lamar Jackson?
Dude won an MVP and there's still people here that don't think that he's good. There's no explanation for that other than just flat out being a hater and I get it if you're a Browns fan you don't have to like The Ravens or Lamar Jackson but to sit up here still to this day and put down Lamar in favor of Baker is some hater shit.
