This is what I’ve been saying since the first preseason game.

We have our guy. The clock is ticking. We’re going to need to get the right people around him ASAP because he’s going to be a superstar, and we can afford to waste a single moment of that window.

Every single player and person in the organization is on notice. You need to prove you can be a part of this NOW or it’s time for us to move on.

This sentence kinda seems like it contradicts some parts of my post, but my idea was that the Cavs can actually be patient and take the long term approach in regards to team building around Mobley.

I don't think it's wise splurging big dollars for players unless you really think the guy fits exactly what you want to accomplish in that regard.

My sentence was meant more towards about trying to figure out what they have on their own team ASAP and who they want to put next to Mobley. Extending and paying big money for players that do not fit and thus limiting what you can pay for better fits in the future is a terrrrrible tactic and one that will probably backfire, and yes, that includes everyone. Sexton, Okoro, and even Garland which I like and still have hopes for.

So in that sense, the Cavs will have to tinker the most with Sexton who's extension is the soonest to try to figure out where he fits in with Mobley and not the other way around. No time to waste in that regard. And truthfully, he doesn't fit in my mind next to Mobley...my fantasy that is.

Nowhere in my post did I say to start splurging on big money players.

We just can’t afford to waste years trying to figure out if Sexton or Garland or Okoro or Bickerstaff or Altman can do the job we need them to do.

They have to start showing it very soon or they will be shown the door.

So we agree then?

How would you build the team around Mobley?

This is the issue to me. Kid can do so much and it's so versatile, what's the BEST way to use him? I don't think that is an easy answer.

Id like to get more spacing around him so he can facilitate easier.

He needs play finishers and shooters around him so the offense can run through him.

I don’t think he needs any sort of special players around him.

I’m more concerned with ridding ourselves of the guys who aren’t any good.

We need good players around him, and finding good players is tough. I don’t think I’m blowing anybody’s mind with that revelation.

If Garland doesn’t look like the guy, I’d happily deal him and look to bring Rubio back on a smaller, multi-year deal.

For sure spacing would not only help him but would help Allen. We also need better defenders at PG, SG and at least SF so make things easier for him on defense. He should be able to pick his spots on defense instead of cover for the PS,SG, and SF getting easily abused.

Garland isn't the guy. Bank it.

I'm just thrilled we drafted a multi-dimensional basketball player. Sure, the team clearly struggled on the defensive end. But Mobley can give you something on both ends of the floor. We need more talents like that.

Kinda fun to early on here going to clutch fans and reading the Rockets fans having buyers remorse….
