KS has been figured out by all the good defensive coordinators. The Steelers mostly stifled our running game today. The Woods defense is an embarrassment except for one or 2 very good players making an occasional play.A lot of this is on KS. Pathetic play calling. Bland offense with not enough play action or roll outs.
^^^^^I'll pile on: we're often a dumb and undisciplined team on both sides of the ball, and that includes the coaching. Lots of talent. Stupid, careless decisions all around.
I gotta say higgins, because we had a chance if not for that fucking false start. You can never blame a loss on one player, but if you had to put this loss on one player it would be on Jarvis Landry not doing basic stuff that any average receiver should do. 1) hold on to the football, and 2) catch the ball when it hits both your hands.
Does Mayfield need to hit every receiver directly in the chest for you to think he's done his job?Yeah, the ball 100% needs to be caught.
That doesn’t mean Baker played the play well. It doesn’t have to be binary.
Even with the false start, the Browns convert of the pass catcher does his job on 4th down.I gotta say higgins, because we had a chance if not for that fucking false start.
Does Mayfield need to hit every receiver directly in the chest for you to think he's done his job?
Exactly. Context is lost in statistics, especially when it's a short sample size.I’ll say this:
Today is proof of why I hate stats like “When a QB’s team is trailing in the 4th, here’s how often he brings them back.”
Baker had a great series on not just 1, but 2 potential game winning drives, and the result will still just fuel the fire that he somehow can’t bring you back or deliver when needed.
What’s funny, is one of Jarvis’ earlier drops smacked him directly in the chestDoes Mayfield need to hit every receiver directly in the chest for you to think he's done his job?
Three times. In the 4th quarter. You can never blame a loss on one player, but if you had to put this loss on one player it would be on Jarvis Landry not doing basic stuff that any average receiver should do. 1) hold on to the football, and 2) catch the ball when it hits both your hands.
Yep. I’d love to know the numbers this year as to how much play action they’re running relative to other teams. It doesn’t feel like nearly as much as a year ago, and the run game has been just as effective.Exactly. Context is lost in statistics, especially when it's a short sample size.
WRs were awful, Baker wasn't great but I thought he was decent. KS had a terrible game IMO and didn't capitalize on play-action the way he could have.
