Game Thread | 2021-22 Season | Game #8 | Cavs @ Hornets | Nov. 1, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow sorry I missed this one

any insight on why Rubio was a +23 in just 25 minutes of play despite lousy box score stats? Did we look that much better with him in or was it just coincidence?
He's a vet that does a better job of running an offense. Our other guards are still young pups in comparison.

So this is the thing that this team needs more than any other thing and why I want to see them just force Windler into games.

EVERY team has this ability except this one. I swear to god they all do. It's just how the NBA is now. You have to have this ability to just get hot and make tons of 3s.

It's the primary issue with the roster and was the primary issue last year.

We're told Garland SHOULD be that guy but we haven't seen anything close to that.

We have to find a player who can do that.
I mean, I don't think Windler is that guy either, especially since he's mostly a spot up guy or needs his shot created for him.

It almost has to a guy who can make and manufacture 3P shots in every way. Pull up transition, around a curl, dribble moves to lose a defender, jab step and step back, etc. Rozier, Ball, and even Bridges can all do that in late game situations.

You're right though, on this team, the two guys who are supposed to be able to do that were 1-11 tonight from three. They NEED to be better in that aspect. And we need to get some wings who can create some threes also.

I'm not trying to say that there is nothing to critique in a win or in this win. Plenty to critique. But I did not expect this team to win more than one game on this road trip(and I was struggling to figure out which one that would be), so overall, it's hard to be too down on things. Yes, the Hornets came back and almost won, but I'm not going to discount the 1st quarter, the run at the end of the second quarter and a few of the runs we made in the 3rd and 4th either. It all counts, there was some good and bad, but enough good to get the win.

Can’t imagine what this thread would be liked had the Cavs gone 0-5 on the road trip as most of us expected. They are far from perfect, but they are winning some games, and it’s a hell
Of a lot more enjoyable than the last few years.

windler needs to get burn, only complaint about Mobley thus far is he is pretty weak with ball, he should be playing about 32-35m.

Some stats: We ended up closing the gap in offensive boards. Sexton actually had 4, which surprised me.

Held the Hornets to 8+ points below their season average. So another solid defensive showing.

Shooting has to improve. Garland and Sexton can't keep passing up on open 3s.

He does, but all three guards left a lot to be desired in the 4th quarter decision making process.

We will have to pick one because Cavs wil lbe barely able to get a solid SF from the upcoming drafts. No way they find a PG and an SF.
Sexton is not a pg. at worse he will have a solid nba career as a 6th man scorer off the bench. I don’t get garland at all. He is a injury prone soft marshmallow

The Three Trees do it again.

SexLand a combined 10-30, 2-11 from 3, 6 assists, 5 turnovers.

Cedi was a key contributor, with 13 points on 4-5 shooting. Rubio with 8 assists in 25 minutes and a +23. I hope we decide to hang on to him and start him.

He's the best player on the team. We look like an actual NBA team when he's on the floor, and like an AAU team when he's off it.

He got 4 off of his own misses after barreling into 4 players lol

Yes.

Garland and Sexton did not work together.
I’ll give JBB his credit here. He tried to split them up, but Koby talked him out of it. Hopefully he revisit it.

It’s weird that the Cavs/Koby has been trying to get Sexton to the sixth man role for years and then he shuts it down. Makes no sense. Maybe optics?

The Hornet fans are all cursing out Miles Bridges tonight. These are all kids and we will have to live with the ups and downs this season. All our pups are talented but are going to make mistakes.
As for Sexton I thought he was dynamic playing great off the ball in the 3rd quarter. If he was on a team such as the Hornets they would be playing him in the Rozier role.

Dunno. What I know is that i'm concerned about the SF position and the PG position. Rubio is winning them games, and Rubio will most likely not stay on this team past this year. So getting wins and picking late in the draft just to sink back into total mediocrity and getting stuck in no man's land with Mobley the only one true real game changing prospect is a scary position to be in.

Obviously this team is nowhere near a finished product but to survive three second half runs to win on the road at the end of a grueling trip says a lot about the character and fight on this team.

Allen was just a beast tonight. $20 million a year is a bargain.

Really, really proud of our team. They are worth watching and we’ll get better.
It was a good performance and a baby step in
Learning how to close out games. No doubt

Guys, we played 8 games all vs playoff teams and we are 4-4.

This is fun.

Ps Garland sacked up and nailed 3 FTs, suck it
Same record as the Browns. Who would have thunk it?
Tribal council tonight.

Vote one of Sexton or Garland off the Sexland Island.

Move on.
I’ve never gotten Garland’s appeal. If he isn’t Winston Garland’s kid, he doesn’t get so much benefit of the doubt, and he looks a lot more ordinary.
