Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game # 11 | Cavs @ Knickerbockers | Nov. 7, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just popped over for a quick look 5 minutes ago but didn't see any threads/posts specific to today's game. I can't remember if they ever gave me posting privileges when I applied at the draft but I enjoyed reading their fans murder each other leading up to the draft debating Green and Mobley and it's only gotten sweeter since the season started.

Some fan who was at the game the other night dropped this gem about KPJ this morning:

Ok onto Scoot.. so last night just watching I noticed he doesn’t really have a sideline presence with his teammates. And I think it leads to on court chemistry or lack thereof. Aside from the fact that he is struggling to run point his ATTITUDE IS AWFUL!! After the last possession where Tate was blocked and CWood brought the ball up KPJ is walking back to the bench violently screaming PASS ME THE ****ING BALL! All his teammates just ignored it or turned away as if they didn’t want to get involved with his bitch session. Him and JG you can tell don’t really have chemistry.

I say all that you say I believe we will need to cut ties with KPJ by the offseason. The Cavs were right about his attitude. But if we do it sooner before he blows up the locker room we’d get more value.

I believe him.

I watched every Rockets game so far. He isn't good and his attitude sucks. Couldn't be happier with the aftermath.

Man, they are real.. I mean a game or two is a fluke, but they are hammering good teams on the road..

I agree, that if it's not broke don't fix it.. Rubio was on fire.. Was this his best game?.. I'll bet its rare are to score 37 with ten assists..

Nice to see Windler can still hit the triple, even while Cedi regressed to the mean.. I mean Mark and Okoro come back, they will have to fight for minutes.. I also think DG is coming of age.. was clutch again at the end..

I don't think there's probably any doubt that was Rubio's best game as a pro. Definitely his best half.

Mobley’s final line..

26-9r-5a1st1bl 1 TO 1 PF . 11-15 from the floor 2-4 from 3

BEASSTTTTTTMODEEEE

Allen:18p17r
Rubio-37p10a3R. 8-9 from 3

Garland-16/5a/3r 4-5 from 3

Windler 3-4 from 3

Koby Altman’s next email: A picture of him with a victory cigar wearing a du-rag
Extend Rubio and get us an athletic two SF and then just maybe he can deserve to do that. But he'll probably drop another one of those within a few weeks anyways lol.

1) He has to want to be here

2) Is it worth it if we have a quick 1st round exit anyway?

Things that Altmann has to think about that fans don't have to.

1.) Id argue this is a relatively attractive situation for a guy like Rubio unless he wants to ring chase but I think a big role for a good pay day would be something he’s open to. We have a lot of players who are great fits with him long term.
2.) I’m not so sure our ceiling is only a quick first round exit…..
3.) Getting to the playoffs IMO is invaluable. Creating a winning culture for your young guys is invaluable. What Garland and Mobley and Allen are benefiting from playingg with Rubio? Worth so much more than what a likely asset-strapped contender could give us. I don’t think he’s fetching some huge return regardless. I think we could get about the same value trading Sexton to maybe a non contender who wants a young guard who can score.

I’m sure Koby, right now, is thinking of trading Rubio with the rims at MSG still burning.

Ricky sure looks like someone who is ready to go full OBJ because he’s miserable and not getting chances to perform.

No one is arguing Rubio is going to pout nor am I suggesting we trade him today.

So let's try and discuss the actual point here, not the strawman you're inventing.

Wow, what a game. While there are lots of things to be encouraged about right now, what excites me the MOST is how young this team is. It is so much more exciting to know that every player on our team except Love and Rubio is only going to get better. That is so much better than having a bunch of old guys like the Lakers.

Plus, we are missing some very important rotation pieces in Markkanen, Okoro, and Love. We won't need to see Stevens as much (though I love his hustle) and we'll be able to rest Mobley and Allen more when we get them back.

I can't wait to see how pumped the home town crowd is when the Cavs go back for their well-deserved homestand! I wish I lived close enough to go see a game.

Kolby Altman GM / Executive of the year?

Cavz are not even at full strength. This is amazing what we are seeing this far especially in light of a brutual schedule that was supposed to put us on path to another tankathon

Fuck no.

My worst nightmare:

JBB wins coty and Koby wins executive of the year.

I don't know what we do with Rubio at the deadline.

I understand tonight is a gigantic outlier.

Before thath e was still playing like a guy who could immediately go and start for teams w/ bigger aspirations.

So my brain tells me you trade him at the deadline.

What are you looking to get by trading Rubio? If it's another Allen type trade where the team has a proven wing or guard that will be a restricted free agent who is tough to keep? Sure, look at it. But if it is just for a late first round draft pick? Let those poor young guys win some games!!

Yep. Are the Cavs really ready to get out of the asset accumulation mindset? If Rubio continues to give them 12 and 8 off the bench, he could end up fetching a first rounder. Is it really worth losing that asset for 2 months of basketball on a young team? I'm not so sure.
I’ve already decided that we are keeping Rubio, because he kicks ass. Discussion over.
