Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #14 | Celtics @ Cavs | Nov. 13, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sam Mitchell just said Mobley reminds him of Bosh. I have been saying that since before we drafted him. Said mostly Bosh's game, but as good defensively as AD. But AD wasnt this good of a defender as a rookie...i would say best defensive big man since Duncan.

He might not be quite as good as Duncan, but he is looking awfully close....amazing.
If he can even be mentioned in the same breath as Duncan we are in for some good times.

Yea that's a good point.

Valentine took some horrible shots but someone needed to.
I think that’s why Rubio carried over in that stretch and became even more aggressive. Such a leader.

Those Bosh comparisons just aren't really valid anymore. I thought Mobley was better at everything else but Bosh had a better scoring/shooting game at the same age, but now I think Mobley probably has him beat at that too. And Mobley's defense is light years ahead.

Now I REALLY want the sweep.

Want Cleveland over Boston, 3 days in a row. Boston sports fans can eat a whole big back of dicks.
Oh we’re sweeping them for sure. We played our worst game of the year and still beat them. What a joke the Celtics are!

It hurts not having Sexton. He would have helped with that slump.

Yea. Teams need guys who aren't afraid to put up some ugly shooting stats and keep shooting anyway.

It can hurt at times, obviously, especially if they very rarely have good shooting nights.

But nights like tonight, when Boston couldn't score either, you need some guys who are just gonna go out there and hoist w/o caring if they've already missed 10 shots.

Okoro and Valentine have no right being ahead of Windler or Cedi in the lineups. Wade probably shouldn't either... But I'm good with him starting so we can have a bit of offense on the bench. Once Lauri, Love and Sexton are back (and if we don't make any moves), Windler better still get minutes. IDGAF.

While I agree about wade, am I the only one amazed that wade is playing a bit above average defense guarding the SF position?

I am not saying he is Pippen, but he isnt bad, and there is no reason he has been this good defensively. Effort, anticipation, some length, and good team defense.

Good for Wade, I owe his coaches, best friend's Uncle an appololgy, Wade can play at this level.

Watched the highlights. How that push off by Tatum on Cedi wasn't an offensive foul just shows exactly what the refs were doing all game. They gave all the momentum to Boston and those turd nuggets couldn't capitalize. Fuck Boston, fuck zebras, all hail our new giraffe overlord.

While I see it unlikely to be a regular thing, it's hard to argue with the second half minutes Valentine played tonight.

Nothing was working. Team was dead in the water. Valentine came in, played high energy defense, even drained two 3s, and had the third highest =/- on the team tonight.

But let's not act like he'd been getting regular rotation minutes prior to tonight ahead of Windler. That just hasn't been the case.

And JBB showed the willingness to simply keep Okoro on the bench based on how poor his play was. He exited at 9:32 of the 3rd and I don't think he played another minute. Sat Wade for most of the second half too as he just wasn't providing much in this particular game and matchup.

Windler made some smart plays, provided spacing, and yes he did go rebound. He also only took two shots and missed them both. I do agree he should get more minutes but I simply can't fault the heavy minutes Valentine for tonight alone.

Another huge win, coming from 19 down. I would never have believed they could win a game shooting 38.3% from the field 26.3% from deep, scoring only 9 points in the first quarter, and with Rubio going 4-for-17. But somehow they did.

Give credit to Bickerstaff - that challenge on the Mobley block saved the game. He also got Okoro out of there and replaced him with Valentine, who wasn't very good but was just good enough. Okoro was absolutely unplayable tonight going 0-for-7 with 2 turnovers.

I continue to argue that Wade and Okoro can't be on the floor at the same time. When they are we're playing 3-on-5 when we have the ball. That 9 points in the first quarter was no accident. Tonight they combined for 7 points in 40 minutes which is better than usual.

Mobley, Garland, and Rubio had great games despite Rubio's shooting problems. Allen frustrated me because he kept passing up good shots in the paint to kick it outside on a night when the Cavs were not hitting from deep. Bickerstaff took him out for most of the fourth quarter. He only played 28 minutes compared to 40 for Mobley.

Allen needed to do a better job of keeping Robert Williams off the glass. Williams had five offensive rebounds and scored 12 points with 3 assists and 3 blocks. They were not blocking him out at all.

This was another game won by the defense. Tatum was held to 8-for-22 including 1-for-8 on 3's, and he had six turnovers. Schroder followed up his 38-point game last night with a 28-pointer tonight. He reminded me of Sexton the way he was blowing by people for layups. When Cedi ended up on him for the game's final shot I'm sure that was exactly how the Celtics planned it. But Cedi did a great job of staying with him and contesting his fallaway. They stopped him when it counted the most.

Mobley outplayed Tatum across the board, both offense and defense. Tatum scored two more points but he took nine more shots. Mobley outrebounded him 9 to 4, had 3 blocks to Tatum's none, and had one turnover to Tatum's six. It wasn't even close.

Horford was out with a back injury but I wonder if he just doesn't play back-to-backs at age 35. He'll probably play Monday. Hopefully we'll be able to make a 3-pointer by then. By the way, Mobley has made 6 of his last 11 from deep.

I think he works really well on larger 3s like Tatum and Grant. Not sure how happy I'd be to see him on a guy like Norm. But yes, I'm super impressed and happy with Wade. More so than Okoro, who couldn't guard anyone, pass or shoot the ball.

I just have a hard time believing anyone will be as good as Hakeem or Duncan. But someone will, its just silly to call anyone that good this early.

And how does Mobley's fucking game improve so much from game to game. Its insane. I Think I might have to custom order a #4 Slim Duncan jersey.
