Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #14 | Celtics @ Cavs | Nov. 13, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think he works really well on larger 3s like Tatum and Grant. Not sure how happy I'd be to see him on a guy like Norm. But yes, I'm super impressed and happy with Wade. More so than Okoro, who couldn't guard anyone, pass or shoot the ball.

Okoro has proven he can shoot the ball, he took 7 shots today, The issue with Okoro is he cant make those shots, lol

Cavs defense went to another level mostly because Mobley was playing the 5 and didn't have to leave the paint to try to recover out to the perimeter in order to cover against Williams.

The Cavs will need to build a team around Mobley and figure out where he excels. To me, it seems like he is at his best at the 5, in a spread out floor. You add some strength and good, solid mass and he is unstoppable. What's limiting the Cavs offense with him at the 5 is is weak screening.

I'd love to watch him on a team that uses a heavy switching scheme surrounded by big, switchable perimeter defenders.

Rubio saved the game.

Even when they were down big he understood what no one else on the team did.

If he didn't shoot it, then someone else, someone worse, was going to. And so he forced shots. And sometimes that's just what you have to do to shake a team loose.

So he took some bad shots because that's what the team needed. Someone to just force some bad shots, as opposed to doing absolutely nothing with the balll for 20 seconds and panicking at the end of the clock.
As much as Mobley and Garland have saved the Cavs. Rubio is our MVP. Without him and his leadership, we aren't the same.

I dunno this is pretty crazy but Bosh seems like a low ceiling.

Bosh didn't develop a 3 point shot until he played with Miami.

He was never this good defensively and wasn't even ballpark this close his rookie year.
Nobody knows Mobley’s ceiling.

While I see it unlikely to be a regular thing, it's hard to argue with the second half minutes Valentine played tonight.

Nothing was working. Team was dead in the water. Valentine came in, played high energy defense, even drained two 3s, and had the third highest =/- on the team tonight.

But let's not act like he'd been getting regular rotation minutes prior to tonight ahead of Windler. That just hasn't been the case.

And JBB showed the willingness to simply keep Okoro on the bench based on how poor his play was. He exited at 9:32 of the 3rd and I don't think he played another minute. Sat Wade for most of the second half too as he just wasn't providing much in this particular game and matchup.

Windler made some smart plays, provided spacing, and yes he did go rebound. He also only took two shots and missed them both. I do agree he should get more minutes but I simply can't fault the heavy minutes Valentine for tonight alone.

Windler might have taken two shots and missed them both, but Okoro got 7 shots and missed all of them while Valentine took 9 shots and made 2. I'd like to think if Windler took 9 shots, he'd have made at least 3 of them. Maybe foul trouble kept him out, but IMO it's criminal that he only played 12 minutes.

Was at the game tonight. Was pretty lackluster experience through 3 but man, the 4th quarter brought me back to the atmosphere of early round playoff games. Awesome to see
Lucky bastard lol that arena seemed like the fans blew the roof especially after that step back 3 by cedi man what a game

Cavs are now in 4th place in the East. If Garland's last second shot against the Wizards goes in we're in second place, percentage points out of first.

After losing the first two games of the season the Cavs are 9-3.

It's not about making the playoffs anymore. It's about getting home court advantage in the first round.

All I'm saying is that looking at this game and second half specifically in a vacuum, I am not going to be critical of sticking with a lineup that turned the game around and Valentine was a part of that, even if he didn't do all that much in terms of the boxscore.

Obviously, long term, I agree that Windler should be given more minutes so there is more data on both sides of the ball.

The Cavs outscored the Celtics 53-37 in the second half. I assume Bickerstaff reamed them out at halftime. They definitely responded.
