In any case, Koby Altman is either looking like a genius or is the luckiest guy that his players are so overperforming expectations.

I think people tended to overlook how little high level basketball Garland had played coming into this season.


Total number of games played coming into 2021-2022:
College: 5
NBA: 113

Altogether 1.5 NBA seasons worth or one NBA and NCAA season combined

And COVID took a big chunk of that NBA time too.

So Garland is playing like a perennial All-Star after only about 1.5 NBA seasons almost out of High School.

This man is going to be YUUUGE.

Garland is an expert at changing pace, and his floater is a weapon; he has hit 51% on midrangers. He uses the identical release on layups and lobs, and that disguise keeps defenders guessing until the ball is in midair. The threat of Garland's floater gets Allen alley-oops, and the threat of those alley-oops gets Garland floaters.​

It's not close talent-wise, but work ethic and health are huge equalizers. Fat Zion at 25 won't be a plus player in this league.

Different story if he remakes his body, but that's unlikely.

My prediction before the draft of Garland will be better than Morant may be true after all. Garland has been spectacular from the perfect lob passes, rainbow tear drops, fancy dribbling and crossovers, and to splashing from the logs. He is only 21.
 
No one will know Garland unless we make playoffs. We have to keep grinding

Sadly in a way, Mobley will over shadow Garland a bit. But Garland is an all star, multiple year all star. Mobely will be a headliner by next year. And then Allen and other developing players. This team is coming together for sure.
