Which is why Denver pulled the trigger, although they dealt a potential top TE, they still have an upcoming stout WR room. An attractive situation for a winning QB.We need to address the WR room before pulling for a blockbuster deal for a QB, imo.
Make our team attractive to star QBs to come in here.
I can't believe the Browns couldn't have put together a better package. He must have really not wanted to play here.
My guess is that multiple teams, not just the Browns (but also the Browns) called Seattle about Russ and were told "We spoke to Russell and he said he would not accept a trade to you, thanks anyway."
And that was that.
I think the fact that this fan base and media have a reputation of running QBs out of town had an impact as well... At some point the carousel of QBs hurts you.
I assure you this had zero impact on anything. It's as simple as Denver having elite pass catchers and we don't.I think the fact that this fan base and media have a reputation of running QBs out of town had an impact as well... At some point the carousel of QBs hurts you.
I think, if given the choice (which Russ was), he wasn't going to a team bereft of options.I also think the skill position guys thing is a little overblown too.
The truly elite QBs all have big enough egos to where they think any team they go to will be automatically be good because of their overwhelming belief in themselves. I think Russell just wanted to play in Denver and that was that.
