Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #70 | Nuggets @ Cavs | March 18, 2022 | 7:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This Nuggets team, missing players or not*, had won 12 out of 15 coming into tonight game, As hot as any team in the NBA

* Murray and Porter Jr,. are critical but Murray has been out since last year and MPJ went down way earlier. They haven't had quite eh constant back and forth and in and outs with their lineup the way we have.

Save yourself the trouble , watching the game is stress enough…….
We literally won every quarter and OT except the 2nd quarter. But as long as we are down by more than 2 points, we like to focus more on the things not being done right by a young team against a good opponent more than the many good things being done.

edit: this was supposed to be in answer to @SoCalCavsFan post but a general point as well

Huge win. That felt like the one game they had a good chance against a solid team.

I...really don't expect much tomorrow night so we had to get that one. Pistons have our number, will be rested, AND have just been playing WAAAAY better since the break.

Be interesting to see MObley match-up with Stewart. He regularly outworks Allen. Maybe MObley will be better at dealing with that type of player.

Great win in OT. Markk was godly. We made Jokic look human. Credit Garland for that rebound. I thought this was a step in the right direction for him (14 ast obvs).

Did the nuggets have a bad night from 3 because they sucked or because the Cavs were playing better defense?

Markkannen is our defensive 5 in this group.

Yeah, and I'm old enough to remember when somebody said Lauri was killing us, giving them back more than he gave us. :chuckle:

In the first 3 quarters it was true. I never said he was having a bad game, I was saying he was being put in an impossible position...which he was.

For every well timed Mobley double where Jokic turned it over, they were getting 5 dunks/layups/wide open shots. I dont think the plan to double him was very good.

Lauris offense is what won the game for us. Not the defensive manuever against Jokic. That and the Nuggets going ice cold on wide open 3's.

But hey, the call DID work on the biggest play of the game this time unlike in Philly. Results based business. So they get credit for that. Even if I still dont like it as a long term strategy. Like, if we did that against the Nuggets for 7 games I think we'd lose 5-6 of them

That being said...it fucking WORKED tonight. We won. Caris LeVerts hustle...Mobley and Markannen putting points up. Garland orchestrating the offense and finding them.

Most important rebound of the night? That goes to Darius Garland. Doesnt mean he should be boxing out 7 footers. Ya know? But hey, we got the W tonight. Thats all that matters.

Cavs with only 11 TO's tonight in 53 minutes.

Garland was some poor late game(regulation) ISO/overdribble choices but can not, will not knock a 14/2 AST/TO line.

Bigs shout out though to Aaron Gordon for his 7 TO's. Thanks buddy

LeVerts offensive rebound and find to Mobley in OT may have saved the game. Cavs were on the verge of doing down 3 possessions. Probably would have been too much to overcome.

But that rebound, and Garlands rebound and kick out to Markannen obviously...

Guards rebounding tough is something weve needed all year long. Was nice to seee it tonight.

Okay, one of my favorite parts of winning is going through our individual stats.

And we have a lot of them.

Starters:
Stevens 8-1-3 with 2 steals in 21 minutes.
Markkanen 31-10-3 with 4 steals, in 42 minutes. 11-18, 6-12 from 3. White Death
Mobley 27-11-0 with a steal and 2 blocks in 39 minutes
Okoro 4-5-2 with a steal and a block in 37 minutes
Garland 25-5-14 with a steal in 45 minutes A gritty game.

Bench: 24-15-9 in 31 minutes. Not great production, but clutch at the end of the game. LeVert and Love were 6-12 from 3, with key rebounds.
Love 12-9-4 with a steal in 31 minutes
LeVert 10-4-4 with a steal in 29 minutes
Goodwin 0-1-1 in 11 minutes
Windler 2-0-0 with a block in 6 minutes
Brown 0-1-0 in 4 minutes

Garland shot it and knew it'd miss, so he went up right after it and outquicked Jocic.

Quickness counts.
