I like Eason allot for reasonable players at 14, i am trying to get over my man crush on Dyson Daniels as the perfect SF but he is running up the draft boards and noway Dyson is there. To me Dyson was the perfect player for SF for us.

I’m refusing to give up on the Dyson dream. He will be the Cavs pick!

I keep telling myself that maybe teams will feel his ceiling isn't as high as other players. It's safer to take a more proven scorer or to swing for the fences for someone with superstar potential.

Dyson is perfect for the Cavs but I'm not sure he is perfect for other teams. Teams drafting before us tend to have more open positions to fill.

There are about 16 guys I am somewhat interested in this draft. About half of those guys either don't make much sense for us (M Williams, Duren) or will be top 6 which is outside our realistic trade range (Paolo, etc). Of the remaining 8 guys or so, I think we will be in good shape with any of Eason, Daniels, J Williams, Sochan, Mathurin, Griffin, Dieng, or worst case, Ochai.

A lot of those guys project to be solid starter types at the 50th percentile, but I think that is fine for a 14th pick. We can definitely take a wild swing with Griffin or Dieng as high upside picks, or the Ochai/Williams types who will be strong rotation players out of the gate. As long as some team before us wastes their pick on Branham and Davis (looking at you Was) we should be good. Worth keeping an eye on Cha as well who might just grab a wing at 13 since they are basically guaranteed whoever of Duren/Williams isn't taken top 10.

I think Charlotte would be dumb to get cute and not take their C at 13. They could easily lose one to a trade up at 14 and with Mark Williams there for example you’d be looking at teams that may be willingn to throw a truck full of assets at the Cavs for the chance to leap Charlotte

I think they get their first and most important target at 13 which will be Duren or Williams and I could see them take a wing or even a TyTy Washington at 15. They have had s hard time finding a guard to put next to LaMelo and I think Washington would be a great get for them. I think he will be one of the better players from this class and will drop a bit too far.

But you don’t mess around with putting things to chance. If their guy is there at 13, it’s a really deep and talented draft….there’s going to be more than 1 really great option for the Cavs at 14 almost no matter what. Even the crop of guys that we all are dismissing with dreams of getting Daniels or Dieng or Eason(which are realistic dreams especially for Eason…and Daniela is getting a ton of top 10 buzz but if you go around the lottery teams up there it seems like these teams might go a different direction just due to fit, not talent. But the Knicks loom at 11 and their scouting staff is absolutely in love with everything about Daniels so that seems like his floor IMO.

Question…if the Knicks call us and say Fournier, 11 for LeVert, Okoro 39… that’s a thibs trade alright and they want to clear Fournier off the books

Um we would sprint to the podium to announce that trade if offered

You make that trade, without question.

Having #11 AND #14 is a chance to get, and develop, cheap young talent to supplement your increasingly expensive young talent.

We would do that trade immediately, doesn’t even matter who is on the board.

I would be aggressively shopping LeVert, Okoro, and Cedi for the next month to see what kind of value they have.

LeVert was traded for a late first and essentially two 2’s. Now, as an expiring, you can argue he has even more value if you’re willing to take back a contract like Fournier, in your hypothetical. I don’t think it would be that out of line to think you could get #11 if you’re also including Okoro and 39.

Exactly. Teams who get too cute are teams who end up with their cocks in their hands. The only way I see this scenario working for Charlotte is if (a) both Duren and Williams are still on the board at 13, and (b) Charlotte doesn't have a strong preference for one over the other, and is fine with whoever lands at #15. Those are two big ifs.

If the Knicks call with that offer, then I would conference in the league ASAP, to make the trade official before New York changes their minds. And I say that as somebody who has an unreasonable amount of optimism for Okoro, to the point where I might be invited to their family's Thanksgiving dinner one of these years.

Fournier addresses one of the Cavs' biggest weaknesses, in outside shooting. I'd rather overpay him for the next three seasons than overpay LeVert for the next four or five. And having #11 and #14 to get two wings .... yes please.

Would 11 + 14 be enough to move you all the way up to the Kings pick at 4? What if some sweetener was added in?

LOL why would the Knicks offer that? Is there any evidence they love Okoro that much? Fantasy trade.

After the combine ESPN has moved him up to the #6 prospect in the entire draft. I really like Daniels but he just keeps moving up draft boards. Unfortunately I don't believe he's within the Cavs grasp.
