His issue isn't the high heat, it's the slow ball...
Before I go to softball, I heard that Dolan was displeased with the FO due to not keeping fans happy and coming to the stadium.
Thus, when FO went to Dolan for more Arb money in 2 years for Reynolds, he told FO to do an informal poll. Based on RCF feedback, the trade of Chang, Oscar G, Freeman and Rosario was too much prospects per this board for a 3-1/2 year rental in Reynolds.
Thus, the reason for all the roster changes today. They did not plan on leaving 4 OF in Columbus (due to Palacios and Oscar call up). They are throwing out their analytics and giving this board what it wants in Oscar .... and Freeman once Rosario is traded. I know someone may not be happy but FO is finally listening to this board over analytics (sarcasm of course if not obvious).
I'm not convinced of this at all. He was thrown 2 very good breaking pitches and fouled them both straight back. He was on them and the one was close to leaving the yard. Look at his 31 HR from last season and tell me how many were breaking pitches. You'd be surprised. OGon is no different than any other hitter. He needs to be selective and do damage to mistakes while refraining from making weak contact on pitches out of the zone. Thinking about it he's kinda like Urshela while he was in Cleveland's system. Only OGon has a lot more power. His issue isn't the high heat, it's the slow ball...
So what did you think of his OF play AZ? He doesn't look like a gold glover, but is it safe to say he's better than Naylor in your opinion?Start the clock on Oscar.
Can he translate to the big league off-speed and keep respectable numbers with regard to chasing out of the zone?
Interested to get a look at him in RF tonight as well.
I don't think Chang will pass
.. very good likelihood, he'll be claimed... perhaps Anaheim..I don't think Chang will pass
...or adding a TINSTAAPP to Chang for a better prospect.. e.g. Diego Benitez from the Braves.. It's a stretch.. to be sure..I couldn't care less and I hope someone claims him tbh, as I don't want him to block Fermin out of playing time. I fully believe Fermin would be a better fit in Cleveland than Yu.
Maybe we can even fetch a recent 2021 late rd draft selection for Chang. Some players I liked:
RHP Andrew Hoffmann - Braves 12th rd
RHP Braden Olthoff - Angels 9th
C Shane Mcguire - A's 9th
1B Thomas Francisco - Cards 19th
CF Braiden Ward - Rockies 16th
