I think for many who love the wine and gold color scheme, this is the perfect mix to connect the generations by bringing in the Cavs bucket V logo of the 80’s with that color palette. They also incorporated the stripe in the letters from the late 90’s era to bridge that generation. Some inside info from arsham about the process, and no color trimming on the New Jersey’s:
-When he isn’t watching he is designing. Arsham and his design team crafted about 50 variations for the Cavs’ look, including some “wildly new designs.” While the final word might rest with the artist, the Cavaliers and Nike stayed involved through every step of the process. A design can look cool up close on paper, for instance, but the same typography or logos on a jersey might not work as well on camera.
“Everyone needed to know what was going to be workable on court,” Arsham said.
“I looked at a lot of historical jerseys,” Arsham said. “I own a lot of them myself from different eras, and not only looking at the design of the jerseys themselves but how the graphics sit on them. I think when people see our jerseys coming out next season, ours are going to be super unique within the league. They’re almost like a ‘70s jersey in that they are very simple graphics. There are not a lot of embellishments all over the place, there’s no trim on the edge of the sleeve. It’s a very reductive palette. And I think (it’s) going to be powerful in that way. The players are going to love them, I am sure of that.”
Apparently there will also be a silicon-like look to gold on the jerseys, a first time use for the NBA.
These will be really interesting.
I don't think anyone who lived through them wants a reminder of the Ted Stepien yearsThis is one of the only throwbacks the Cavs haven’t brought back in the last two decades. I’m curious if these will resurface at some point over the next few years.

I think what’s really interesting about that logo is that it’s taken the place of the swooshing C with the sword through it as our tertiary/simplistic logo even though there’s no references to the team’s name or city.I will be buying a lot of gear with the "hoop V" logo...the one from the 80's is my all-time favorite and I love the nod to it with the rebrand.
Job well done, Cavs.
Every Cleveland fan knows it's Stadium* Mustard, you heathen! We've gone from yellow mustard to brown mustard. Truly incredible.
I do like the new (old) Cavs logo with the basket, so that's a plus.
Was browsing through the rest of the store… I’d hate to be someone that ordered a jersey last night before they were discounted today.Cavs Team Shop already has some merch for sale...

I like that they’re pushing the envelope. The silicon-look gold should be interesting. No trim on the edge of the sleeves tells me there must be stripes down the side of the jersey or across the chest. Maybe something not unlike this:Some inside info from arsham about the process, and no color trimming on the New Jersey’s:

Perhaps Arsham takes a page from the early 80s’ uniforms with the horizontal chest striping?I like that they’re pushing the envelope. The silicon-look gold should be interesting.
