Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Now if the Jazz have any interest in a Sexton S&T, I'd be prepared to get stupid with an offer for Spider. Sexton, Okoro, No. 14, a future first, and whatever side deals we have to do to make the money work.

Jazz will deal Gobert and smooth things over with Mitchell. No chance they trade Mitchell to the Cavaliers. Other teams can top what we offer. If he does get dealt my money is on Miami for Herro + Picks + more.

Respectfully disagree. Markkanen did a decent job, but he’s just not a natural SF and Anunoby would be a huge upgrade. With the game being so perimeter-oriented, I’ll take the wine over a center every time.
I'm in no rush to break up the best core we've had sans LBJ since the the late 80s.

We haven't even seen these guys in a seven game series, mostly due to the fact that Allen got injured and we dropped out of the 6th seed, and people want to break up the core before we do.

Also, O.G. isn't the needle mover people think he is.

I really don't know what to do with Mitchell. In a lot of ways, he is a supercharged version of Sexton. Great scoring guard, poor defender (probably worse than Sexton), solid but not a primary playmaker. Obviously he is much better at the things he is good at and I think a much better catch and shoot 3pt guy than Collin, but is it worth paying 200% for a player that is 150% of what Collin offers?
Mitchell is a better defender than Sexton and it's not particularly close.

Mitchell should be a better defender. He is longer and more athletic than Collin (who is no slouch in that department). But his awareness is just as bad if not worse and he dies on screens. Collin is better at PoA. But Mitchell is part of the wide open lane that is the Utah perimeter D that has buried them for 3 straight playoffs. Even if Mitchell is better, its only a marginal level. Giving up extra resources plus Collin for an expensive upgrade on the same slot, without fixing the major issues that is caused by that position is not worth it imo.

Theoretically if Sexton, Mobley and 2 1sts get it done and you have a magical guarantee Zion will be healthy, and give you 12 years of health, how many people take that trade?

I do and i even add in Okoro and another 1st if needed.

Imo you do trades me to become significantly better. What we would have to give up to get Spider would deplete us and all we’d be getting back would be 5 extra ppg. I’d rather just bank on Sexton getting naturally better and improving his efficiency. Both are non factors on D so we can’t even say were getting a better defender. Teams target Collin and Spider in the PnR with success defensively.

Jazz would have to be offering more players to make this worth it or maybe the price would have to be Sexton, Okoro and only 1 1st.

Personally I’d take an engaged Collin Sexton over Spider defensively. Collin is average to below average at PG defensively but he does fight his ass off and he’s the rare modern player that takes defense personally and gets pissed at his man and WORKS HIS ASS OFF.

I utterly HATE when my PG/SGs just die on screens. Like if i were a coach that would be the fastest way to ride the bench or fall out of my rotation. Kyrie used to do that all the time and it made me so mad. If Steph Curry can work his ass off on the PnR then anyone can. No excuse for guys to not be scrappy on every PnR.

Most players are engaged defensively in the last 5 minutes of a close game. It's the other 30 minutes that are the issue.

Definitely thumbs up on that one. You had me at Magical Guarantee. Zion when healthy is just jaw dropping to watch. Closest thing to Jordan impressive I’ve seen since Jordan.

Sexton, Mobley AND 2 FIRSTS (Along with Okoro)?? You lost me at mentioning Mobley! Sexton, Okoro and two firsts….I would struggle with but would be forced to relent! But short of getting JA, Tatum, Booker, Embid or Gannis….Mobley’s name is omitted from any trade offers!

Why would we want Ja? The Grizzlies were better when he was hurt. Grizzlies had a ridiculous 20-5 record or something when he didn't play. Fun player to watch but currently overrated. And PG is the one position we don't need to worry about since we have Garland. Trading Mobley for a PG who may not be better then the one we have would be moronic.

No chance. He can be a lot of fun to watch and is excellent within the paint, but he's below average as an outside shooter, below average as a shot-blocker, and an average rebounder. Doesn't impact the game in enough different ways for me to trade Mobley - much less sweeten the pot with more players/picks.

Trade Mobley for Ja Morant?? Devin Booker??

I wasn’t saying trade for him I was trying to point the only type of players you go after if you are thinking about trading Mobley

Ja Morant isn't that type of player though. Lumping Morant in with Giannis, Embiid and Tatum was a bit odd. Booker also seemed out of place being lumped in with Giannis, Embiid and Tatum.
