The Gold is Golder: New uniforms to come?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What don't you like? I think the number placement on the front and maybe the proportion of logo size to number size can be tweaked, but otherwise I love them!
It’s just to much going on with the checkered stripes going down the sides

Why can't we just have a classic looking jersey like the Celtics, Bulls, Lakers, Spurs, etc that looks good and doesn't have to change every 4-5 years?
I think the Bulls and Spurs jerseys are really good, but if you were forming a new team and picked the Boston colors, no one would buy that nonsense.

Easy to love, honor, and keep the simple classics when they are connected to 17, 6, 17, and 5 NBA Titles respectively

Because the goal is to *sell* jerseys...if you don't need to buy a new one every year, the team, league, suppliers and vendors lose out on your money.

That's exactly what we had from 1986-1994:

AND again from 2010 to 2019:

Simple, classic, clean lines.

Sometimes change for the sake of change, or just plain boredom, isn't good. Then again, the Cavs aren't the Celtics, Lakers, or Bulls, and are trying desperately to create their own identity. That's why we've seen so many changes, not only in colors, but logos, uniforms, you name it. Hopefully, they find something they can stick with for longer than 5 years.

Expecting this franchise to pick a lasting identity is a fool’s errand at this point, as much as I prefer the Browns model of a classic, simple uniform.

We’ve completely overhauled our identity four times at least with about 8 different colors. Those Cavfanatic jerseys helped blaze the trail for pointless alternates and fashion jerseys reaching the court. And the state of the NBA absolutely encourages it, with teams using their annually changed city jerseys a disproportionate amount for sales.

The plus side is that any issues you have with the new look are no big deal because they too will disappear in time.

These are cool. Reminds me of our Christmas Day jerseys from 2015.

They're very similar to what we wore from 2010-2019, albeit with a different font and white replacing gold/yellow for the trim color.

I really think the new uniforms are going to be something very similar to these mockups:

I hope not. These look like knock off practice uniforms.

I still don’t get the desire to revive pieces of those mid-to-late 90’s uniforms. They were incredibly ugly and the team was garbage. I like the new Wine & Gold, but if they were going to take visual inspiration from any era it should’ve just been a modernized version of the original branding.

When Arsham takes a new job in 5 years, are we going to have a push from a new Creative Director to “Bring back the Mustard?”

Arsham has provided some hints:
  • he prefers classic uniforms & has looked at the Cavaliers uniforms through the years
  • he said these won't have stripes on the sleeves
  • they will have a simple, uncluttered look
  • he said they remind him of a uniform from the 70's
He may try to incorporate something from the past into the current uniforms, like maybe the splash from the mid 90's or the checkered striping down the sides, maybe even just one side, but it definitely wouldn't be as pronounced as the originals:

Best Cavs uni’s ever imo

The Trailblazers have also maintained their style of jersey (subtle tweaks here in there after their 91-00 look)…

I hate the Jazz but always felt they always did a decent rebranding job with theirs— even that candy corn looking thing wasn’t too bad… Definitely a unique look…

Some teams like to do a modern version of their classic look… Pistons get it right…… Magic do not….
