2022 Season | Series #25 | Yankees @ Guardians | July 1-3, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm close to being done with Miller. I don't see much upside. Not a good enough hitter to cover his atrocious defense, not enough power to cover inability to hit. He's a FUTIL
I'm not done with Miller but I don't think we need 2 utility slots and IIRC he's the one with the options. Send him down to AAA, teach him how to play LF and see if he can right himself offensively in the process.

Yes the Yanks took 2 out of 3. And those 2 were not close.
The 2 they won were against so-so Civale and a guy that was DFA'ed the next day.
Against our #1.5 SP we controlled them.

I'm not happy about it, but I prefer him to Bobby Bradley or others with less time at the position or less time in the majors that are currently part of this organization.

That rules out anyone at AAA or AA...

I think we need to make some changes... Miller needs to be sent down in my mind to right himself...

His babip is poor because he makes poor contact. His LD% is 14.6, barrel% is 4.3, and hard hit is 25%. According to Fangraphs.

Kwan doesn't have reallyeague average with barrel and hard hit if I remember correctly... He wouldn't be in the bigs if you went by those numbers

He will always be a light hitting utility guy. He is a better 3B defensively than JRam actually.

He is fine in the play a couple days a week role. We wouldn't really care what Clement is doing if everyone else was producing. Who else do you want in that role? We want everyone else to get a bunch of ABs, so no one else makes sense...

Miller is the worst defensive player I have ever seen play here. A week ago when he wiffed an easy short hop scoop and had another ball tip off his mitt that was ankle high, he was interviewed and unbelievably he said that if the throws were higher they probably get the putouts. Huh? Catch the ball dude.

Naylor is the every day first baseman and no backup is needed. In an emergency, another infielder can fill in.

Naylor can't hit lefties though. This year he's been especially bad (9% K against RHP/29% K against LHP). Unless he starts, going forward I don't see how he can be thought of as an every day 1B. Not saying Miller is the answer (I don't think he is) but it'd be nice to figure out something there.

After sweeping Colorado, we were 2 games back on June 16th.

Since then we have played LA, Boston, and NY...while Minnesota has played Seattle, Colorado, and Baltimore.

From the majority on this forum, you would think that we have fallen to the bottom of the dumpster. It ain't so. We are in better shape now than we were back then.

We are still two games behind, and the schedule has swung back in our favor.

"Coming into Los Angeles,
Bringing in a team called the Gs,
Hey mister Tito man,
Don't you change a thing."

clase with 23 pitches - most he's thrown this season

Clase, dare I say it, is having a prime Andrew Miller season so far. The dude is such a stud.

We survived the toughest portion of the schedule only 2 back of 1st place. If we can take advantage of some weak opponents on the schedule this month, then we'll be in an ideal spot to trade for reenforcements at the deadline.

He is not fine. He is demonstrably awful. If he pitched against himself he would strike himself out. How can a real fan throw Kwan under the bus so cavalierly to preserve the name of Ernie fuggin Clement. So weird.

Given the hate the utility guys are getting I wonder if Michael Martinez is available...

I have been on record calling for David Fry to take over Clement's spot. He can play 1B and 3B (not as well as Clement, but, then Jose doesn't, either), we could end the Miller at 1B and the Clement in LF fiascoes and, since Fry isn't a top young prospect, he doesn't need everyday ABs.
