I’ll simplify the playoff picture for you Buster. The Central and West Division Champions and Eastern Division less Baltimore.

You could be right Coach, but I just don’t know. Something has to give though.Kwan had about the same numbers last season as Brennan, that being stated, Kwan forced our FOs hand cause of that and Brennan is doing the same thing. It's hard not to merit adding him to the 40 man roster.
I really think we are going to make a buy move for a player line a Reynolds/France to fill in a need while helping JRam...
But Reynolds still has 3.5 year of control left. He's not a rental at all. He's been a 4.7 WAR player per 650 PA's since entering the league. Jose's career WAR per 650 PA's sits at 5.7. He's not quite at Jose level but he's pretty close. I'd gladly part with one of Espino or Williams to get him.I just don't think we can win any trade we make at market value this year.
Reynolds may well be moved by Pit, but they can afford to wait (a long time) for a king's ransom.
We're not at the final piece stage yet, and I'm not helping Pit up off of the canvas.

One of (Espino/Williams) (OGon/Kwan) and (Arias/Freeman/Rocchio) should be pretty close and yes I'd do that too.So would I.
But Pit wants more, Much more.
They will extract a King's Ransom for him, or they will Not make a trade.
They can easily afford these terms.
I think you're trading two of Espino, Williams, Valera. Then two other high end prospects like Kwan and Arias. That's probably getting you in the competitive area. One of (Espino/Williams) (OGon/Kwan) and (Arias/Freeman/Rocchio) should be pretty close and yes I'd do that too.
Reynolds is a stud and makes the Gards much better for three plus years.
With the imminent elimination of the shift, there’s not a chance I’d trade away Espino or Williams. Now, more than ever, strikeout pitchers are going to be extremely valuable.I think you're trading two of Espino, Williams, Valera. Then two other high end prospects like Kwan and Arias. If the price is Espino, Williams, Rocchio and Freeman, I think I pass.
not much I would give beside, ahmed, and one middle infielder and one not top tier pitching prospect. Possibly a catcher prospect not named Naylor.draft..
pay huge signing bonuses...
develop talent only visible by the CleFO/Player Personnel dept..
then, upon the precipice of becoming major leaguers.. send a pile of them away??
HARD PASS.. if the Pirates want a shit ton of prospects.... get them someplace else.. The Guardians have to GUARD their lifeblood/source of competitiveness.. and hold onto the ones that will contribute like grim death.. The flavor of the month club will just have to get a different flavor..
Agreed. TMac is probably the only MLB starter who is untouchable right now if I'm GM.When the shift is illegal next year everybody's offense will be improved.
So it will be nice to have young pitchers who can make you swing and miss like Espino & Williams.
No way in hell I'm trading those guys.
However, I could be tempted to trade a SP now.

MLB teams and MLB owners know this. It’s probably why the players union agreed to banning the shift in the first place. The actual impact will be marginal at best, but aesthetically, the game could improve. You’ll no longer need access to an advanced scouting report to know why the Dodgers are playing with two right fielders against Freddie Freeman.Baseball Info Solutions reports shifting caused 213 would-be hits to be turned into outs in last year’s shortened 60-game season, which translates to 575 hits-to-outs over a normal, 162-game season. Turning those outs back into hits would result in an increase of less than 1.5 percent in a typical season. That doesn’t feel like a sea change.
