Emo ass fans.
Is there a point here? Or were you just head over heels to be able to use the word emo today?

Here is the truth. Too many people rushed out to laude this guy and his addition. That now they're stuck defending their prior stupid takes. It's personal with you and the others who liked your post. And they won't go down without a fight. We now all know with certainty that you are one such poster.

"Clutching my prior bad takes means more to me than the Guardians success." AZ_

Always find it funny when one talks down on a player's OPS but doesn't mention it with another player. Well he's a 1.2 WAR to go along with his run saving plays. Never any run scoring plays, hell, he doesn't even wanna slide anymore.

You were going to show them how wrong they were.

Now you're stuck projecting about how much other people lauded this guy and being cunty about it instead.

Using phrases like "they won't go down without a fight" as though you're actually fighting people, and not just making a spectacle of yourself as a shithead troll.

I've noticed that the head of Myles Straws' fanclub on here has made 2 posts on this subject now and yet he isn't even capable of mustering a defense for his guy being statistically the worst hitter in all of Major League Baseball.

"Myles Straw is the worst hitter in all of baseball and he's pouting about it. Seems pretty emo to me."

"You're emo."

"You seem overly defensive about this guy being statistically the worst hitter in all of baseball. It's like it's personal to you."

"It's personal to you."

^ here's an accurate summary of our conversation on the subject. Can't wait for another knee-slapping, substantive take out of you.

Either just admit that there is no defense for Myles Straw continuing to get regular ABs or admit that you're incapable of presenting that defense, if it did exist. This was boring 2 posts ago.

He's on pace to be about a 1.5 WAR player (2.4 via BBREF) in the worst offensive season of his career because his defense and baserunning are so elite that it provides value to the team even when he's not hitting.

I don't know where all the fake quotes came from, or what the hell you're ranting about generally.

Just saying, its sounding incredibly cunty and over-the-top emotional that there is very little reason to engage with it very seriously.

For the record, I do like Straw, I think he deserves a leash much like Franmil because it's still considered a building/figuring things out season for what's in store in '23 and beyond.

There's a point that can be reached regarding his offensive display though. If things get darker, it won't hurt to get a 60 game look at Benson or Brennan, and that's best for business.

What do we classify a .417 obp and 12 HRs for a CF in AAA through 70 games? What more does said player have to do?

He is an offensive black hole. The stats confirm that. We gave him $25 million and he's quickly become the biggest albatross on this team since the middle of last decade. I do appreciate that you admitted at the end of your post there that you weren't engaging in this conversation seriously. It wasn't by choice, because there is no serious debate to be had about Myles Straw. He is exactly what the numbers show that he is.

By the way, if a poll was taken as to who between us is "cunty" "over-the-top emotional" and "unserious" about this topic it would not go the way that you think it would. One person got so flustered here that they immediately started with the personal attacks.

Hint: it wasn't me.

Get traded for Phil Maton.

Here's the question that I posed originally on Straw--what is his leash? And does that leash exist because he's earned it, or because we gave him $25 million, created his first ever fanclub, and are afraid to look silly if we admit our mistake now?

I'm pretty sure it's the latter, if we're all being honest. Benson and Brennan absolutely deserve his ABs and this team is worse off for it every single game we continue to give them to Straw.

Sure it was you, it was just directed at Straw and anyone who potentially supported his extension. Been going on for a day or two before I've even shown up and commented.

Most of this entire shtick has been attacking the projections you've made about others.

Just a bunch of cunty, emo arguments predicated on made up quotes of others, ignoring the value he's provided to this team and ranting about his contract value and hyperbole about who the biggest albatross and "worst contract of all time" and blah blah blah blah.

Same cunty nonsense you'd see in the Facebook comments section of trash takes about people who are never going to listen to any rebuttal about his defensive value, or the prospect that this career-low offensive output isn't destined to continue forever.

I largely just pointed out the cunty, emotional nature nature of the league's worst followers.

@DickyLeftridge

I will give you advice, don't get in an argument with the biggest dick on here who also is one of the most knowledgeable sports guys on here as well. You won't win, he will find a way to counter your argument one way or the other...

First off, Straw is and will be our CF for awhile still regardless of how he is hitting. That being stated, he will get less and less starts against right handed pitchers if he doesn't shape up. None of us would be against sending him down for a short minor league stint to fix the problems with mental and physical parts of his swing. If this was in the OOTP game, I would have done so, but it's not that simple in real life.

I don't think anyone on this board would be against sending down Miller, Straw, Reyes etc while calling up other guys to see how they do. With Naylor hurt (we don't know how bad it is yet), they could be forced to make even more changes.

Shoot on paper, I wouldn't be scared to send down Miller, Straw, Reyes and sending Naylor to the IL while calling up Brooks, Freeman, Jones and Brennan/Benson and seeing how they do...

Reyes seems to be hitting a little better. He single-handedly provided the offense in that lone Yankees win. But I would definitely be on board with the rest. Send down Straw, Miller and put Jose on the IL with Naylor, if he's injured. Bring up Brennan or Benson, Freeman or Jones. Brooks is fine. Then also DFA Sandy Leon and bring up Naylor.

I think we'd be pleased by how well the new, young guys respond and reinvigorate a team that is trending towards a slump.

As to your first comment, I don't know who you're referring to. But it clearly isn't the guy who has been personally devastated by the statistical fact that Myles Straw is literally the worst hitter in MLB. Poor little fella is beside himself. I'm sure he's "literally shaking" as he launches into his next attacks.

Feel bad for the guy, TBH. He hasn't been this distraught since Aeropostale went out of business.

I hope many of the short term decisions were put off due to the schedule, 18 games in 16 days with no scheduled days off before the rainouts. Oscar G going on the IL didn't help, either. Straw and Miller really need a couple of days to regroup.

They didn't give Straw 25 million.

They effectively bought out his remaining 3 arb years for 18.7 million, most likely a million or 2 more than he would have made had they not extended him.

That contract a) would be very easy to move and b) would not be a prohibitor should one of the prospects they are expecting bigger things from be ready.

There are loads of teams paying well more than 6 million a year for their 4th OF option.
