They didn't give Straw 25 million.

They effectively bought out his remaining 3 arb years for 18.7 million, most likely a million or 2 more than he would have made had they not extended him.

That contract a) would be very easy to move and b) would not be a prohibitor should one of the prospects they are expecting bigger things from be ready.

There are loads of teams paying well more than 6 million a year for their 4th OF option.
Great news. Sounds like his leash is much shorter here than I thought. Best news I've heard all day, frankly.

In a year where we "decided" to let the young dudes play, we appear to have entered another transition period. We have done a good job letting the youngsters play for the most part, but its time to revisit a couple players/positions.

1. Ernie Clement - needs replaced. I am OK giving Arias as many Ernie/Owen at bats as possible. Clement, Arias and possibly Jones are the only 3 on the 40 man who could play 3rd base in more than a pinch capacity. Don't really care who replaces him as long as he gets replaced. I might even take Mitch Tolman (if he can play 3rd base).

2. Myles Straw - bring up Brennan and let him play everyday until Oscar is back and then reevaluate. A OF of Straw, OGonz, Kwan and Brennan sounds good to me. I think Benson's "unique" profile would get smashed in his 1st run in MLB, but maybe not. Also wouldn't completely rule out Valera skipping AAA and joining the MLB team. Odds are George is Columbus bound fairly soon though. Expect him to takes some late season cuts at the very least.

3. Bo Naylor - making it very clear he wants to play with his brother in 2022 not 2023. If not Bo, then Bryan Lavastida as soon as he is healthy. Our only catcher on the 40 man for 2023 is Lavastida so nothing to lose by playing one of the youngins' IMO.

Sure it was you, it was just directed at Straw and anyone who potentially supported his extension. Been going on for a day or two before I've even shown up and commented.

Most of this entire shtick has been attacking the projections you've made about others.

Just a bunch of cunty, emo arguments predicated on made up quotes of others, ignoring the value he's provided to this team and ranting about his contract value and hyperbole about who the biggest albatross and "worst contract of all time" and blah blah blah blah.

Same cunty nonsense you'd see in the Facebook comments section of trash takes about people who are never going to listen to any rebuttal about his defensive value, or the prospect that this career-low offensive output isn't destined to continue forever.

I largely just pointed out the cunty, emotional nature nature of the league's worst followers.
<Ref speaking...> I'm going to have to deduct one point for over-use of the word "cunty".

Reyes seems to be hitting a little better. He single-handedly provided the offense in that lone Yankees win. But I would definitely be on board with the rest. Send down Straw, Miller and put Jose on the IL with Naylor, if he's injured. Bring up Brennan or Benson, Freeman or Jones. Brooks is fine. Then also DFA Sandy Leon and bring up Naylor.

I think we'd be pleased by how well the new, young guys respond and reinvigorate a team that is trending towards a slump.

As to your first comment, I don't know who you're referring to. But it clearly isn't the guy who has been personally devastated by the statistical fact that Myles Straw is literally the worst hitter in MLB. Poor little fella is beside himself. I'm sure he's "literally shaking" as he launches into his next attacks.

Feel bad for the guy, TBH. He hasn't been this distraught since Aeropostale went out of business.

You honestly are ignorant of who you are trying to mess with lol all the mods are facepalming your words right now...

Best way to break the offense's slump is to bring up 4-6 guys at once who have never seen played in the major league.

Who knows, maybe it could work. Would we be any worse off? Lol

3B? What about 1B? Who the hell is the everyday 1B if Naylor is out for a while?

Franmil isn't going anywhere after his recent trip to the IL and AAA. You can only do that once with an established hitter and after that its sink or swim.

Straw stays because of his glove and speed although I could see him getting benched for a game or two because he didn't slide.

Miller and Clement make sense for a demotion. Miller is hitting 203 since April 17th and now his defense is declining fast. Clement is Clement and someone else deserves a shot.

The only problem with sending Miller and Clement down is who plays 1B with Naylor gone too?

Miller or Arias. I am OK with keeping Miller up.

You 1st base AAA options are: Fry and Brooks, both would require a roster spot. Maybe Jones. Oh and Bradley, can't forget Bobby... Can we?

Have an organizational philosophy.

Stick with it in non reactionary ways

Bring up prospects on an individual basis when you believe they are ready, not as a reaction to someone else playing like shit or because “well they couldn’t do any worse”

It’s simple
