It’s a nice city but their sports fans are incredible whiners, always complaining about the travel disadvantage.. well yes that’s basic geography you idiotsPerth is the most remote big city on the planet. I was there for a week in december. It's basically long Beach without the people.. but they told me to tell everyone back in the states that it's a shothole.. so it's a shithole... ( wink wink)
Perth is quite remote, though the metropolitan area is quite large. It was about a five hour flight from Sydney when I visited. Culturally they feel fairly distant from the rest of the country (though each state is pretty much like that - Melbourne and Sydney are the big ones and they like to bad mouth each other. Brisbane and Queensland are interesting (Brisbane was my favorite city I visited in Australia)). Perth has a lot of unique features. One of the most notable is the existence of the Quokka off the coast. They are a marsupial with no predators on the island and no fear of man, so they're known for taking selfies with people. I didn't get to get over to Rottnest island when I was there as I had to fly to Sydney, but that's one of many cool things in Perth. Really nice downtown area and great people.Yeah, Western Australia. Perth itself is a large city and, from what I hear, a really cool place to visit.
The problem is there’s nothing to the east of it for thousands of miles. Pretty well separated from the rest of Australia.
