They are a bit late getting the lineup out, but it's good to hear this...

Pending moves usually push it back a bit.

Probably waiting for Naylor to clear the medical check when he got to the stadium today.

Seems he’s a scratch now.

Yeah, I was figuring that was going on. Hopefully Naylor is okay since we really do need his bat producing.

So here's sort of my mid-season progress report:

My preseason prediction, I think, was a 3rd place finish in our division. After a promising start, we seem to have come back to Earth.
I'm disappointed in the pitching. The SP, except for McKenzie, has been inconsistent. The bullpen, other than Clase, has also been inconsistent.
The offense has been very poor. JRam has carried the team for most of the first half. Gimenez also has produced well. Naylor shows he can produce in the clutch.
Straw, Reyes, Miller, Clement and the C position are not showing much yet.
The good news is the the kids brought up this season seem to have a future. Kwan can make contact at a very good rate. OG has also shown promise. Palacios may become an elite pinch-hitter. Even Nolan Jones shows early promise.

So how do you improve the team at the trade deadline?
I'm gonna say the G's should be sellers.
Make available any SP, other than McKenzie. Bieber seems to have slipped a notch. Not saying he's bad. But not sure he's a #1 anymore. Bullpen: anybody other than Morgan & Clase. Rosario also available.
Keep Espino, Valera, Williams. (Maybe Naylor) All other prospects are negotiable.

What do we need?
We don't need any rentals. I don't think we are realistic contenders in 22.
We don't need any prospects in AA. We have enough of those types.
We can use a controllable C that can hit @ .240.
We can use a young, controllable OF that has a + bat. (BTW, any news on Michael Conforto?)

I expect Espino, Valera, and maybe Williams to make their MLB debut next season.
If they are who we think they are, we might contend in 23.

Espino if he stays healthy seems like a lock for '23 but I wouldn't count on Williams and especially Valera. Best to be skeptical of prospects, especially position ones. The good thing is that we have an extremely young team and they're only going to get better naturally. And the upper minors are brimming with options so you gotta figure a few of them will come through to provide some value. My guess is as best as anyone who that may end up be.

Great post. Jones coming up was a good start. In 24 it looks like they will have a ton of very promising young players playing everyday. Maybe some of those guys break through as early as next year. No need to give away prospects this year

From Pluto this morning:

I hear they will be looking to move Franmil Reyes, who has finally started to hit. Since coming off the disabled list, he is batting .255 (.840 OPS) with 4 HR and 10 RBI in 15 games. The Guardians have talked to the big man about getting into better shape to play the outfield, but that hasn’t transpired. At this stage of his career, the 27-year-old Reyes seems content to be a DH...

Amed Rosario could be traded at the deadline. Andres Gimenez is the shortstop of the future...

Eventually I would like to see a lineup of Gonzalez-Kwan-Valera in the outfield, Jose-Gimenez-Freeman-Jones in the infield, Naylor at catcher and the other Naylor at DH.

Nolan Jones started out as a third baseman and could be moved to first like Thome, Victor Martinez, and Carlos Santana. Only Jones is 6'4".

That’s disappointing. I love Franimal.

Great post. Agree with being sellers and making pretty much the exact same people available you said.
