I know it won't happen, but I wish it was to let Mercado go.

What's the point of making sure to have his right-handed bat in the lineup against lefties if he can't hit righties or lefties regardless?

I'm aware of Jones's struggles against lefties in the minors, and I'm fine with him being platooned to start at the major league level, but I feel like we platoon some guys too much.

We are 40-40 with one game to go to the half way mark, but something to consider...

From 2004-2011, 2013-2019, Tito coached the Red Sox and the Indians, now Guardians. The 2020 season was only 60 games long, and he didn't finish 2021.

So, looking at his fourteen year career up thru 2019, his teams have almost always played well, and usually better, in the second halves.

His record after 80 games to the finish...

2004.....55-27
2005....49-33
2006....36-46
2007.....47-35
2008.....47-35
2009.....47-35
2010.....41-35
2011.....44-38
2012.....50-32
2014.....46-36
2015.....41-38
2016.....47-35
2017.....59-23
2018.....47-35
2019.....49-33

Jones also strikes out a ton, in a year where hitters generally aren't striking out a ton in AAA. Just seems like everyone's K's are down there but he's still striking out at a pretty high clip. He will at least take a walk though.

Mercado won’t be on the roster once Gonzalez is activated from the IL.

It's exactly one month to the day since Nolan Jones was activated for play in Columbus.. He's had quite a month.. he is forcing his way out of C-Bus.. That's as much as we know.. He should be fine in RF...

you left out the philly years?

Figured I would do a roster update...

Leon got DFA'd and Hedges got activated.

Yohan Ramirez was traded to the Pirates.

Palacios was sent to AAA with Jones as the call-up.

No update on Naylor yet... but it seems unlikely an IL stint if Palacios was sent down (seems like good news).

In the lineup playing first.
