Free Agency Safari 2021 Edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, let's stir up the pot.

Carmelo Anthony is a Free Agent.
He's not going back to the Lakers.
Could a veteran, future Hall of Famer, like that show the kids how to play?
Or would he just be a distraction?

When we got JR I thought he was a Bozo. But he became a foundational piece.
I actually thought about the Cavs adding Carmelo a couple weeks ago. Instant offense off the bench and an above average 3 point shooter. Can make big shots. Veteran Minimum deal. What’s not to like? With the current roster, where does he get minutes? You get similar production with Agbaji, Osman and Okoro. I don’t think Altman is done making deals yet. Good guy to keep an eye on if there is a roster shake up.

Thing is Carmelo is a legit 6’7 (unlike Okoro and Och) and even at his age last year he shot 44% from the field and 38% from 3 point land. You can never have enough shooters!! I’d rather have Melo on the bench instead of Windler.

I don’t know if we are “contenders” just yet. We are definitely playoff bound but I don’t see this team getting past a healthy Bucks team, a Celtic or Heat team. We aren’t quite there yet.

Agreed.

We are going to be in that second tier with Philly, Toronto, Atlanta, and let's see what happens with Brooklyn and the Knicks.

Still, the Cavs are built for a window coming up later while all those teams are in "win now" mode. If Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland make more steps forward, that's even better than pinning all your hopes on a trade.

We should be in that tier this year. But have to see it first.

Also, with a full offseason and training camp, as much as I hate Harden, I think Philly will be in that top tier this year. But it’s fair to say we need to see that to believe it too.

He is strictly an offensive PF, much like Love. We have too many on the roster and would need to trade players. Three isnt a path for minutes for Carmelo without injuries. I have always hated his game and see no fit on the roster.

Hard no.

We can say the same about LeVert. Harden is He Man in the regular season but turns into Snarf in the playoffs.

What’s interesting is that on a purely statistical basis, LeVert actually has had a better playoff/playin run than his regular season numbers. Especially from 3P

LeVert became a scapegoat at the end of last year. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised if he can stay healthy. Koby didn't go after him aggressively out of sheer boredom on the ESPN trade machine.

I like LeVert. If he can improve his shot selection, he will be a very good player for us. His defense was better than thought, he provides size at SG, and actually able to shoot some, mid range game is solid, just needs health and a defined role.

Melo is no different than Love at this point. With the exception that Love, is a better glue guy at this point and well "loved" (pun intended) by his current team mates.

Well Love is a bit better of a shooter, not quite as athletic even as an old Melo, plays better team basketball and a better rebounder.

Overall i much rather have Love of Melo, and we already have Love. I agree, but I think Love is the better player at this point, maybe ever, was never a huge Melo fan personally.
