Grady Sizemore, CF, 2006 season

Defense matters up the middle, and one of the best defensive CFers in recent memory will fill that hole on my squad. He also posted a .290/.375/.533 slash that season with 53 2B, 11 3B, 28 HR, 22 SB, and scored 134 runs to the tune of a 133 OPS+ season worth 6.7 bWAR.

Round 1: Nap Lajoie, 2B - 1910 version (.383/.444/.514 slash, 9.8 bWAR, 51 2B, 26 SB, 227 H)
Round 2: Shoeless Joe Jackson, RF - 1911 version (.408/.468/.590 slash, 9.2 bWAR, 45 2B, 41 SB, 233 H)
Round 3: Gaylord Perry, SP - 1972 version (342 IP, 24 W, 1.92 ERA, 10.8 bWAR, 7 CGSO, 0.978 WHIP)
Round 4: Grady Sizemore, CF - 2006 version (.290/.375/.533 slash, 6.7 bWAR, 53 2B, 11 3B, 28 HR, 22 SB, 134 R)

@Lord Mar is up

With my 4th round pick of the 2022 All-Time Ind-Guardians RCF Fantasy Draft, @Lord Mar selects…

Jim Bagby Sr, SP, MLB World Series Winner

Jim_bagby.jpg

Why: Jim is the all-time single season leader for CLE in wins with a 31-12 record in 1920, when they won their 1st ever World Series Championship. In 7 years as an Indian, he tallied a win/loss total of 122-86 with a 3.03 ERA in 1735.2 innings pitched.

Fun Fact - Bagby Sr. is known for his screwball and for being a decent hitter. He had a .218 career BA (better than a lot of current Guardian hitters) and hit the first home run as a pitcher in world series history (1920).

1. Jim Thome (1B)
2. Earl Averill (CF)
3. Omar Vizquel (SS)
4. Jim Bagby Sr (SP)

@sportscoach is on the clock

Okay, I am going with one of my sleepers, may be too soon...

1B Hal Trosky...

I mean he was honestly a pretty good player. If he was a better fielder and didnt have to deal with the WAR, he would have easily been a near HOF if not HOF. I needed a middle of the order bat...

With the final pick of 4th round, I select SP Sam McDowell circa 1965

A 6x all-star and 5x strikeout leader, I went with the 1965 version of "Sudden Sam" as he led the league in ERA (2.18), strikeouts (325), K/9 (10.7), hits/9 (5.9) and HR/9 (0.3).

With the first pick of the 5th round, I select SS Joe Sewell circa 1923

One of the toughest players in major league baseball history to strikeout, Sewell holds the record for the lowest strikeout rate in major league history, striking out on average only once every 73 plate appearances, and the most consecutive games without a strikeout, at 115.

I went with the 1923 version as Sewell set career highs in triples, RBI, walks, batting average, OBP, SLG, OPS and OPS+ all the while only striking out 12 times in 685 plate apperances.
