2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guess it's time to sort out the 40.
Lots of guys getting left off this year.

Moving forward. Let's take a look at some of our SP prospects and their performances thus far.

Curry(23) has 88IP with a 3.99 ERA in Columbus. His line is 7.7 H9, 2.5 BB9, 10.5 SO9 and a 1.125 WHIP.
Allen(23) has 87IP between Columbus and Akron. His line is 7.9 H9, 3.6 BB9, 13.1 SO9 and a 1.276 WHIP.
Battenfield(24) has 114.1IP with a 3.31 ERA in Columbus. His line is 7.7 H9, 3.1 BB9, 6.0 SO9 and a 1.198 WHIP.
Burns(23) has 51.1IP with a 3.51 ERA in Akron. His line is 6.8 H9, 4.2 BB9, 10.0 SO9 and a 1.227 WHIP.
Cantillo has 60.2IP in Akron with a 1.93 ERA. His line is 5.6 H9, 4.2 BB9, 12.9 SO9 and a 1.088 WHIP.
Bibee(23) has 80.2 IP between LC and Akron with an ERA of 2.23(1.25 in Akron). His line is 7.6 H9, 2.0 BB9, 13.1 SO9 and a 1.068 WHIP.

Curry and Bibee's walk rates are pretty damn good. Battenfield's is significantly elevated this year at 3.1. I think his highest rate prior was 1.8 BB9. Cantillo, Allen and Burns need to cut their walk rates, but Cantillo has been impressive otherwise while Burns has been good too. Allen has struggled a bit in Columbus but his walk rate is insanely high while he's carrying a good SO rate. I think his numbers will level out. We know the potential of Espino and Williams so I'm not even going to post their numbers. You can add Pilkington to that depth as well, but I see him behind those that I listed. Oddly enough he's the only one getting any ML innings so far this season. I think he's going to be a fine #4 or #5. Morris and Hankins are returning to affiliates so we'll see how they do, but their talent is obvious. That's a helluva group of young SP prospects IMO.

I was hoping that Battenfield, Pilkington and Morris could make their MLB debuts this season. So far it's only been Pilkington and unless there is another injury there won't be any opportunities available. I don't like that to be honest, but it is what it is.

Williams, Bibee, Nikhazy, Leftwich, Dion all get a lot of love, but Reid Johnston is about to join that group from the 2021 draft class. His stuff has taken off lately and I think he has the best individual pitch (slider) out of the entire class now.

Over his last 5 starts: 28 IP, 2.57 ERA, 39 K, 2 BB, 19 H. That's a 12.5 K/9, 0.6 BB/9, 19.5 K:BB ratio, and a .75 WHIP. Video game numbers. Should be promoted to Lake County soon.

Added velo from him made all of his pitches play up and he's flashing a plus change-up in recent weeks.

How many need added? I see about 10 guys we could chop off right without much hesitation.

Which ten you think could be chopped?
McCarty
Shaw
Maile
Hedges
Castro
Clement
Rosario
Gose
Call

Off the top of my head, these guys will likely be off the 40-man before the rule 5, I’d assume.

Gabby RodriGOAT update: 2-4 w a TATER and 2 RBIs. Now up to .289, good for 6th in his High A league. At 20. Is that good?

Awesome, thanks Bimbo. I'll be checking him out now that you've brought him to my attention. I usually don't pay much attention until a player reaches Lake County. That would be a fulltime job trying to keep up with all the levels. You know anything about that?

Saw Freeman got pulled early yesterday when playing 3B ... mmmm utility guy?

Confirmed by Zack.... Freeman up ... how will he get ABs though with rotating in with the 3 of 4 hottest hitters Jose, Rosario and Gimenez

I am 100% guess work over here.

Excellent. I liked Johnston for the 2020 draft and weak 2021 (superficial stats) ensured he fell deep enough in a very deep draft class. Big conference sleeper despite good track record (same as Kwan).
Absolutely loved the pick, because he was exactly the kind of college P that this org helps find the next gear. And here we are...
