Ex Indians update

Interesting chart found on Reddit for trades by WAR. So far he's done 9 teams: Team trades by WAR

We have won every trade since 2013 except Diaz and Bauer per this WAR chart, and most of us agree that with what happened, we won the Bauer trade too.

We lost the Martin trade which they forgot about... either way winning majority of your trades isn't a bad thing lol

9:05pm: The Mets are acquiring outfielder Tyler Naquin in a deal with the Reds, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post (Twitter link). He’ll come alongside minor league southpaw Phillip Diehl, whom Robert Murray of FanSided (on Twitter) previously reported was being acquired.

I hated that Diaz trade when it happened. I really thought we fleeced the Padres in that Bauer deal. Franmil just hasn’t panned out.

It's not a nice thing to say, but a few pitcher trades we "won" weren't completely result based, injuries played(s) a part which shouldn't be counted on. Still cool to see crushing values though.

Edit. I don't have the skills to do it, but it would be interesting to see what the Lucroy trade would look like if he had accepted the deal.

Well Chang, C Mejia (later traded for Hand), Allen (in the Clev trade) and Armstrong...

Chang, Allen and Armstrong all ended up being AAAA players. Allen and Armstrong both had like 0.8 WAR for their carrers so far, Chang no positive war, Mejia is at 2 WAR at the moment... Lucroy had 2 WAR for the rest of 16 and 17 total...

So Cleveland would have lost in deal in theory...

I see that Joe Smith was dfa'd to make room for Sandy Leon - a daily double of ex-indians/guardians

When trading, esp trading pitchers, the likelihood of injury has to be taken into account.

A lot of things non performance related have to be factored in.

Attitude, personal life, clubhouse presence, work ethic, etc.

after turning down the trade to cleveland, lucroy was with 8 different clubs over the next 6 years --- still, a couple hits in the '16 series and we mighta won it all
