There are reasons to get him (Bo Naylor) up to the CLE squad now & there are other reasons to wait until the end of Spring Training '23.

I am not advocating either plan... Only pointing out the other side so people are not blind to/ missing certain aspects of the equation.
This FO has been right more often then not so I will defer to their judgement on the matter (personal preference be damned).
Well at this point, bringing up a top 100 type prospect certainly could have implications draft-wise as well as service time junk...

Naylor should get called up as soon as he crosses the rookie in 2023 threshold, similar spot with Valera though his callup seems further away. Forfeiting their rookie status now doesn't seem likely.. Do you (or anybody) know if Freeman technically qualifies for draft pick potential?

Kind of a bummer, was hoping to see a steady diet of rookie catching by now but maybe they don't want to run the risk of losing out on ROY types that could provide additional bonuses. Seems reasonable in a way.

I remember all of us (including me) bitching and moaning for the lack of moves. Holy shit these young guys have stepped up and it’s fun to watch.
  1. Kwan
  2. Gimenez
  3. Amed
  4. Nolan Jones
  5. Will Benson
  6. Tyler Freeman
  7. Oscar Gonzalez
Right now, I feel like it's must-watch TV every time one of those guys gets an AB.

If you say "Yeah, but we're in first place and it would've been nice to shore up the roster with a veteran or two" you're not wrong. I'm just having a blast watching these young guns get their shot--and we don't even have Arias, Brennan, Naylor or Valera up yet.

I was very frustrated in march. Whether by design or out of necessity, kudos to a quality FO for how they’ve approached the season from there. I’ve enjoyed the growth process.

Indians / Guardians have been the best run organization in Cleveland sports for going on 30 years now. I know they don't spend to keep stars, but its clear they develop strategies and execute them well - even if it must be within a highly restricted budget. I also understand this is a message board, and the point of a message board is obsessive debate... but the organization deserves a bit of trust.

The FO did inquire about players and knew the cost of players and lost a couple bids, but they stayed their course and didn't get desperate. You have to give them credit for that and so far it's working since we have been able to have stay healthy with all the talent coming up.

I feel like this could have been posted every year for nearly a decade.
On one hand yes, I agree. On another, not so much. It may just be my perception, but they seem much more interested in pushing thru the young guys this year. Maybe it’s because they have higher quality young guys to push thru. Maybe my perception is wrong. Idk. We aren’t sticking with dead weight like we seemed to in prior years.

Didn't even catch that--I'd say the portion bitching and moaning over the lack of moves was the minority.

I'd say it's in the middle... I think most of us felt we would do more than move Leon for an older AAA relief pitcher, but most of us understood we weren't making a move to make it and was okay with staying with the young guys. It was less moaning and complaining and more most of us expected a move at the trade deadline...

It's saying something that the Cleveland baseball team has NEVER finished in last place in their division since realignment, and they still get treated like the red-headed stepchild of the sports scene in the city.

Meanwhile, the Browns and Cavs have had the worst record in their respective leagues as a whole like a combined 10 times over that same time frame.

The vehicle is different (youth coming up) but the "I was angry at the team in March, but as the year went on, I saw that they knew what they were doing and our record is pretty good" is consistent.

2016's opening day lineup had Juan Uribe at third, and an OF of Marlon Byrd, Rajai Davis and Collin Cowgill. Ooooh were people mad that year.
