I think it's a pretty funny joke. Karinchak is certainly the craziest, most animated reliever in baseball right now. I saw the Tweet amongst the sea of Karinchak being "ready to run through a wall" after striking someone out, and the way he was shouting after striking out Altuve to a national audience.

If you thought it was talking about his vaccination status, that would have to assume that he's the only unvaccinated player in baseball--which isn't the case. It would be INCREDIBLY stupid to make that leap, but yet here we are.

But no worries. Whenever there's vague, unprescribed vitriol, I assume it's directed towards me.
I was about to ask why it was funny to insinuate Karinchak might murder someone, then I realized he reminds me of Christian Bales character from American Psycho. If he had a sense of humor, he would do that raincoat strut off the mound after a K. And the only alternatives I could come up with were Most Likely to Be On Meth, Most Likely to Be His Gyms Steroid Dealer, and Most Likely To Be Part of An Insurrection. His little strut is even ridiculous. He's our G Bro I guess.

I am guessing cutting Jewell for Battenfield then or does Battenfield able to added as an exception and only a temporary add to the 40 man? Do you remember what the rules are for this?

Player doesn’t have to be on the 40 man to replace someone on the restricted list.

Can be anyone in the organization.

What balls does Aaron Judge use?
It's possible Judge's fly balls are flying 23 feet less on average as well, but still clearing the fence because he's barreling up a lot more than Reyes was. As others have pointed out, Reyes was chasing more bad pitches and getting more swings and misses.

Judge's barrel percentage (26%) is twice that of Reyes (13.1%, 3.1% below last year). These guys are so strong they can hit it out when they barrel it up no matter what baseballs they're using. The home runs just aren't quite as impressive.

Fangraphs may have it wrong about the baseballs. Reyes' average fly ball distance is down at least partly because of a lower barrel percentage. But anecdotally a lot of players are saying the ball is deader.

I'm getting really concerned about Jose. These are his OPS by month:

April 1.133
May .972
June .860
July .806
August .581 (30 at-bats)

He isn't close to the hitter he was earlier. He's consistently popping up fastballs he used to destroy. He's also beating balls into the ground. Line drives are few and far between. I'm wondering if that hand injury is still an issue.

Also, look at his walks. 19 walks in May, when he was killing it. 8 in June, 6 in July, and he's on pace for 6 in August. Either he's pressing at the plate and chasing too many bad pitches or the pitchers are no longer afraid of him.

I've seen him get ahead 3-1 and then pop up a fastball right down the middle. More than once. What's going on?
Hoynes had this today:

The hitting storm that was Ramirez has calmed. An injury to his right thumb could be the cause. He’s hitting .233 (7-for-30) in August...

If he has a thumb issue that won't be fixed until he either gets surgery or several months off then he's probably going to be just an average hitter the rest of the year, which will significantly affect the offense since he hits 3rd.

Thumb isn’t an issue.

This is baseball, good players ebb and flow just like the rest of the league.

But not going to lie, cringed when I heard he was participating in the HR Derby. Something that can mess with a guys mechanics, especially when they aren’t big raw power guys.

I was gonna speculate on the possibility of lingering effects of the HR derby…bimbo beat me to it. Hosey wouldnt be the first guy to experience post break batting issues due to that.

someone oughta do a study

This forum is not the appropriate place for that discussion, so I won't open that can of worms right now.

It would be better served in a political thread. Read into that however you will :chuckle:
All I could find online was his anti-vax instagram re-post from over a year ago. Definitely not great.

But yeah, I think it's harsh to compare him to the guy who has 600+ words on his wikipedia page showcasing his piece of shit behavior.
