A lot of this was before we truly understood the value of walks and defense. I don't really think a CF like Straw is going to be the guy to break it but a C maybe...

FWIW Gallo actually has a .167 AVG now and a positive WAR and 93 wRC+, and he hasn't even hit a ton of HRs (only 15).

No errors charged, but a lot of mistakes.

Minnesotas LF misplayed a double off the wall that gave Boston its first run.

Boston base runner at third failed to tag up on a diving catch in right field, ala Freeman.

Minnesota 3B steps on third for a force out, then runs towards the dugout with only two outs. He easily could have turned two, but lost track of the outs.
 
After last Saturdays game in Chicago we had a one game lead over Minnesota. We were rained out on Sunday, then split six games on the West Coast.

We are now 1.5 games ahead. We've picked up a half game.

Minnesota has lost 2 games to Texas at home, lost four games at Houston, and won four games at home vs SF and Boston.

Overall, I dont think we should look at this as a negative. In fact, gaining ground while playing playoff teams on the West Coast is a positive.
 
This could be a good series to see what we have in Benson, all righty, they don’t seem to be overpowering…..I start him all 3 games
