2022 Season - Week #2 - Jets @ Browns - 9/18 1pm CBS

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It’s not just one thing that cost us that game. We made so many errors in that last 2 mins. I mean, missed extra point, blown coverage, blown onside kick, blown coverage on the game winning drive. I mean if any of those go are way we win. Fuck, how did he miss that extra point. (When he missed it, I told me wife, typically that cost us a game but this game is over and does not matter) then we lose.
Reminded me of the Browns / Patriots game when Josh Gordon took it the house like 80 yards - then the Browns pissed away their win committing every possible error and the Patriots doing exactly everything they needed to in the order they needed to win the game. Except this was the fucking Jets.

I'd rather spend another month discussing Donovan Mitchell's arm length and height without shoes than watch this shit.

Edit: grammar

I mean theoretically the Browns could have kneeled it to 2:00, kneeled it on 2nd to run it down to 1:15 or so, kneeled it on 3rd to run it to 0:30 or so and then kicked a FG to go up 10 with about 25 seconds left - but ultimately I don't have much issue running a play there since field goals aren't guaranteed, even short ones, considering York missed an XP.

Regardless of the coaching and the scheme..... if you are on that defense in those last 2 minutes......make a fucking play!!!! Take it upon yourself to not let this team lose. Yet here we are....

I love the concept that this game was some kind of a "wakeup call". Can't wake up a corpse... and this browns team is both decomposing and stinking, head to foot.

And coming up in a short week against a Steelers team that is just seems a perennially better-coached and more disciplined team. At a time when our talent is just not making up the difference.

Also, love ya Myles, and i know its tough hearing the boo birds, but bro: you can't drop a home opener in that fashion and expect the Muni lot crowd to just take it in stride.

Putrid effort. This team fucking embarrasses me.

We flirted with this kind of disaster last season against Baltimore, except Tyler Huntley couldn't quite get it done. Fact is we look like the kind of team opponents expect to fuck up receiving an onside kick.

Didn’t watch but somehow the recap is still painful.

But really, why is anyone watching?

Steelers will kick the shit out of these idiots.

Myles is also a non-factor this game. He should have dominated against low tier Tackles. Game on the line, he is nowhere to be found.

Myles takes many plays off, so yeah he is often a non factor.

Fire Joe Woods. And Myles Garrett soft ass can go play dungeons and dragons if he doesn’t want to be booed. Make a play against a backup tackle maybe, you fucking loser.

Unfortunately, I would bet that Chubb is going to be replaying that moment again and again in his head and beating himself up over it.
this is one of the worst parts for me

our best player (imo at least) is probably going to be relentless on himself over the 1 time in his fucking career he did something minorly selfish that every other back in the NFL would have also done

I really hope he doesn't let it eat at him. He is last on my list of blame for today. We aren't even in this game to blow it without Chubb amazingly enough

Nah, they'll probably beat us with a field goal set up off a bonehead penalty. Mitchell Trubisky starts going by "Mitch" again, because he throws for 500 yards against us, and the Steelers go on to win the division.

... just as likely as us beating them, anyway...

And several times the season before. Most notably to me the Dallas game where we led by 27 and gave up 24 in the 4th quarter to make it a 3 point game before OBJ bailed us out

I'm tired of it

Here's my only two hang ups about firing Woods (who clearly does deserve to be fired)...

1. Minus the inexplicable coverage busts, this is the exact defensive scheme Stefanski wants to run. Rarely blitz. Constantly sit in zone. Keep everything in front and force a team to execute 8, 10, 12 play drives every time to get points. If this wasn't what Stefanski wanted his defense to be, he wouldn't have hired Woods in the first place.

2, You're not replacing Woods with an unemployed coach and installing a whole new system on the fly. So you'd be replacing him with someone internal like Howard, Bloom or Tarver. And that person would be someone who has only been teaching these guys the same schemes and concepts that Woods and Stefanski want these defenders to execute anyway. So the firing would be largely ceremonial.

If you were going to make a move, it should have been done in the offseason. At this point it's probably too late for it to actually be meaningful.
