2022 American League Central Division Champions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wish we had Bauer right now. (Not really, but fuck Aaron Judge)

Aaron Judge has never, and will never, be able to hit Bauer's curveball. I still remember him looking absolutely silly every at bat against Trevor, unless Trevor gave in and threw him something straight.

I hope Tristan and Karinchak throw him nothing but curves this series. Don't give that knuckle-dragger anything to square up.

Fuck New York. Fuck the Yankees. Let's go Guards. 3 and out, on to the ALCS.

Pitchers barely throw Judge fastballs, probably for this reason, although he's been whacking breaking stuff pretty well also this year. The one pitch he can't seem to hit any year of his career is the splitter. Sadly we only have Stephan for that but maybe he could be a good guy to match up against Judge.

But every time I see Aaron Judge hit a HR in this contract year, I just think of how much more money he'll be able to bleed out of whoever signs him to the mega-deal he's going to get. So perhaps Judge's success will end up screwing the Yankees, just like how the Tigers and Angels had so much of their payrolls tied up paying money to the shells of Cabrera and Pujols.

The teams combined for just 11 hits -- 10 of which were singles -- and set a new postseason record with 39 strikeouts, eclipsing the previous high of 37 set by the Braves and Reds in the 2020 National League Wild Card Series.

As it turned out, history was made in the 13th inning on Saturday afternoon at Progressive Field: Steven Kwan’s flyout to end that frame made it the longest scoreless game in postseason history.

Judge should have trouble with Triston.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic selected Steven Kwan as the best left fielder in baseball this year.

Left field: Steven Kwan, Guardians

WAR: 5.5 OPS+: 124

This year’s biggest surprise has to be Kwan, who will soon win the AL Gold Glove Award for left fielders. Kwan led all left fielders with 21 defensive runs saved, according to Sports Info Solution. (Ian Happ, who ranked second, had 13.) He batted .298 with a .373 on-base percentage that was tied for the best mark among left fielders. He led all left fielders with 168 hits and had 19 stolen bases in 24 attempts. Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies is the runner-up. He led the NL with 46 home runs but his .218 batting average, major-league leading 200 strikeouts and below-average defense made me select Kwan over him.

After Michael Brantley left we wandered in the wilderness before Kwan exploded out of nowhere to become the best left fielder in the game. In fact, Brantley's OPS+ at Kwan's age this season (24), was 97, followed by 112 and 105 the next two seasons before he broke through with a career high 148 at age 27. In Brantley's 14 years he has exceeded 124 just four times, including this year (125). His career average is 117, lower than what Kwan achieved at 24, and Brantley's best season for Defensive Runs Saved was 9. His 13-year total as a left fielder is -4.

Or Biebs on short rest in Game 1?
I don't expect Bieber or TMac to go on short rest at all this postseason... at least until their possible last start of the World Series.

They're too good right now on full rest. Don't rock that boat.
