We need to go back and read what we are typing.
Amed does this...Amed does that.... to help this team win.
(But he's only average, and his contributions to this team can easily be replaced next year by one of Arias, Freeman, or Rocchio.)
We really need to hit lefties better.
(But Ameds production against lefties can easily be replaced next year by one of (see the above))
We need to score more runs.
(But ignore the fact that nobody on this team not named Jose has created more runs than Amed, and his run production can easily be replaced next year by (see the above))
Our biggest competition for the division is Chicago and Minnesota. If we want to get to the WS, we will probably have to go thru NY again.
Ameds OPS vs Chicago this year was .853.
Vs Minnesota .981.
Vs NY .953.
His post season wRC+ is 112.
(But all this clutch production can easily be replaced next year by (see the above))

Amed is not a star. Hes not...in Reggie Jacksons word...the straw that mixes the drink. But he seems to be in the middle of a lot of big moments in key rallies.
Oscar had the big hit tonight, but who scored the winning run?
Oscar got the winning hit Friday in extra innings, but whose HR got us to extra innings?
Jose had the winning two run homer in the opener vs the Rays, but who was on base at the time?
When Chicago needed to sweep to stay in contention, who scored from second on an error as part of a come from behind 5 run eleventh inning?

Money should not be a problem.
Our payroll this year is around $69 mil. (Per Roster Resource.)
Our payroll before arby will be $19 mil, including buying out Shaw. Our arby estimates total $37 mil, for a total of $56 mil...so we start $13 mil under this season, including Amed.
We have a new minority owner and we are gonna have an influx of cash from this post season.
We need to add a RH bat, not subtract one of our best ones.
