Caris LeVert: Two More Years!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Is LeVert back in 2023-24?

  • Cavs can't afford the $$$ to keep him and nothing is going to change that

  • After bricking shot after shot in the playoffs, Koby washes his hand and lets LeVert walk

  • Only if he signs for something close to the MLE

  • If Caris plays well in the playoffs, the Cavs will offer big $$$ to keep him

  • KobyAltman! No one else on the team fills his role, so stop sitting on your hands!

He ass but it only seems like he’s chucking because he’s taking ballerina ass spin moves to turn around fadeaways that barely hit the rim
Ballerina ass spin move fadeaways IS chucking.

If you think this is chucking, I highly recommend never watching late 00s Warriors highlights featuring Monta Ellis, Jamal Crawford, KAzubuike, Maggette, and the GOAT Anthony Randolph

GOAT chucking team might have been the Darius Miles , Dajuan Wagner, Ricky Davis Cavs. Three young guys that didn’t care about anything other than chucking up horrible shots.

That’s my point. He isn’t “chucking “ on volume but his attempts are of “chuckish” ilk even if it’s on like 5 attempts

The wild thing is dude makes most of the contested shots where you think to yourself, "no way!" when he puts it up.

Then nearly anything wide open and "in rhythm" winds up a brick

LeVert is in his 7th season and his career shooting percentages are 43.5% overall and 33.6% on 3's. Last year's number were right on his career averages, in fact, the 3-point percentage was down a couple of percent.

This year in a small sample he's hitting just 38.5% from the field. His 3-point percentage is way above his norm at 41%, but I think both those numbers will regress to the norm.

The point is - he's maxed out in his 7th season. He is what he is and there's nothing special about his game, although he has the potential to be a good defender against guards and small forwards.

With Garland, Mitchell, and Rubio at guard there's no place for LeVert, and IMO he's not a starting caliber small forward on a championship team. He's never shot higher than 44% in a single season. Among wings he ranks in the 21st percentile in points per shot attempt. He's in the 26th percentile in steal percentage. His rebounding is average. His only real strength is assist per usage rate where he's in the 92nd percentile. But with Garland, Mitchell, and Rubio on the team we don't need another distributor.

I think the Cavs will let him walk after this season.

LeVert is going to be called PerVert for.his crappy play. A total nothing when the Mitchell trade negated him. Stupid Cavs.

Stupid Cavs because they got Mitchell despite having LeVert? Wouldn’t it be dumber not to trade for a guy like Mitchell just because you have LeVert on the roster?

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. I guess I was somewhat blinded by his play against the Cavs and his play on the Nets and Pacers ; albeit those were limited times watching and I must have caught him on some of his “outburst “ games which we’ve all seen he’s capable of….however, they are just too few and far between.

Perhaps, JBB hasn’t put him in the best possible positions to succeed always, but he’s played enough for one to make an informed opinion of his play. He’s extremely likable, hustles, plays good defense and occasionally can go off, but those outbursts seem like such an aberration and his norm is more the player that while he can create his own shot, struggles to make said shot. I keep making excuses for him and keep thinking that a game like the 41 point one against Boston will get him going, but it just never seems to. It just seems that the list of players that can score 40+ one night but scores 2 another is limited to Caris and Terrence Ross of Orlando.

I think they're hoping LeVert can develop into what they wanted Okoro to be - a small forward who can play great on-ball defense, get to the bucket and score in the transition game, and hit open 3's in the half court offense.

I suppose it's possible. He can score in the transition game because he can get to the rim in the open floor. He is working hard on defense and has the length and quickness to stay in front of 2's and 3's. But I don't know if he can maintain this year's 41% on 3's when his career average is 33.6%.

Still 68 games left in the season plus the playoffs. That's a lot of time to get questions answered about everybody on the roster.

He’s not getting any catch and shoots at the corner 3 suddenly nor getting opportunities in those situations. He was getting a lot of those in the beginning of the season and making them. We are just not utilizing him fully - best to have him come off the bench and be playmaker there and combine him with DG or Donovan.

Inefficient chucker.

Career TS%? 52.5%

2022-23 TS%? 51.4% (and the only reason it is this high is he's shooting much better from 3 than he has in his entire career - he's going to regress to his mean over the season)

This is who he is.

Shooting 37% from 2. Please, someone, for the love of all that is holy, make him stop!

Still an inefficient chucker.

And again, please, someone, make him stop! I am begging you! I cannot take it anymore!

Typically, you could count on him to give you 12-15 points, 5-6 assists, but this bench role is going to neuter him now. Not only that, but JBB chose to play both Stevens and Okoro over him in critical possessions that required ball-handling and switching defense. If it was his hand in Rozier's face, that 3 likely clanks and the game ends in regulation.
