Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Still kind of shocked Allen didn’t kick it out for 3pt shot. Two guys were open. Also. Broadcast agreeing that it was the right play . in hindsight………

Fantastic game by Mitchell, obviously. That doesn't meant there aren't other games where he takes too many bad shots early in the game, and too early in the shot clock.

Doesn't make him not a great player, because he is. It's just an area that would help the team as a whole improve.
I think he takes bad shots because he feels like that's the best look he'll get for that possession. Kinda like a 1st or 2nd pitch of an at-bat in baseball. He's been efficient as it comes, regardless. When you're under 6'2 tall, you gotta get em how they come in the league.

Good point. There is no scorer 6'2" or less - and there has never been - who isn't criticized for taking bad shots. Getting a good shot is just that more difficult. In fact, they have to make some bad shots.

Wilt never attempted or made a three. He retired long before the three was an NBA thing.
Right. But he had a long-range hook shot. I saw him make four or five straight in practice, from the sideline, outside the 3-point arc. It was a shot he learned with the Globetrotters. I figure with some practice he could make them in a game. No one's going to stop him.

The replay is on right now, i'm going to re watch the second half.

From Chicago Sun-Times.

Coach Billy Donovan rarely criticizes anything outside of his own locker room, but he had trouble with that play.

“It’s a clear violation, unequivocally [Mitchell was] crossing the line on the basket before the ball ever touches the rim,’’ Donovan said. “He beat Patrick, but kind of the reason he beat Patrick was because he went in there too early. Listen, in that situation, we have to find a way to come up with the ball.’’

Williams knew that and even had a hard time getting through the postgame interview without showing some of that emotion.

“I did hear other guys saying he kind of left early; regardless, I feel like we’ve got to come up with that rebound,’’ Williams said. “Obviously, the officiating didn’t go our way all night, so I shouldn’t have expected it to go our way late in the game, especially down the stretch.
Isnt why he beat him. He was moving even further away from position to stop don and he has 3 seconds to get that ball.

He's not boxing out one guy, let alone two. It just was going to happen in any event

My wife last night (who only knows Cleveland from First 48 and Court cam) when the game ended:
"The dancers in Cuyahoga county are going to be very happy tonight"

Considering it's a home stand. I bet she was right...

Mitchell with Super Man cape last night. What was awesome were all the screen Mitchell got along the way. Props to everyone but Mitchell and JBB for making the adjustment. And JBB putting Allen on Derozan was another big adjustment at the end of the game

For Donovan a long step-back three isn't necessarily a bad shot. He's shooting 41.3% on 3s this season and from what I can see an awful lot of them are no-no-no-YES step backs.

Just rewatched the game. yep absolutely mitchell crossed, but there were about 3 or 4 lane violations for that shot.

Overall i give the refs a C grade. They werent great, definitely made some mistakes, but i dont think they were favoring 1 team over the other.

At the moment, Mitchell is the second most efficient volume (9+ 3PA's per game) 3-point shooter in the NBA @ 41.3%, second only to Curry (11.6 3PA @ 43.4%). This isn't JR Smith. Mitchell's basketball IQ is high. He knows what a good shot is and what isn't.

I pointed this out that the Bulls violated the lane too. Guy replied "they never call that". Well, I never recall seeing them call it when the shooter crosses the ft line early very last play of the game either.

Just by re-watching highlights over and over, Kevin Love was by far the biggest cheerleader, driving force, and reminder to Mitchell for the 70 mark.

The emotion and excitement he was showing for his teammate's personal accolade was something special.

End of overtime they were telling Mitchell he had to get them both to beat booker.

I also saw Okoro after he fouled out watching Mitchell do it say "What am I watching?!!"
