I don't think the Knicks are any type of rush here. They made those moves in the draft and have a huge amount of draft capital, have Brunson under contract for a long time, RJ Barrett under contract for a long time, and are gonna hit 48 wins.
This doesn't feel like the year a few years ago where they made the post-season largely off the back of Derrick Rose finding the fountain of youth.
This is sustainable.
Brunson is 26. Robinson is 25. Grimes is 22. Barrett is 22.
If they had had a bad season, then I could see going after Lillard.
But now? With Brunson already there and much, much younger? I don't see the point of that.
We are seeing everything from a very Cavs-centric lens here. For instance "I'm very confident in the Cavs over them for years to come."
But the Cavs aren't the team they're trying to get past here, guys. The Bucks and the Celtics aren't gonna suddenly collapse into the void in the next two or three years.
THOSE are the two teams they have to try and get past. They should save their ammo for moves that can potentially help them do that.
