2022-2023 NBA Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It’s be funny that Chicago or a team below jumps over Dallas and Dallas gets 11th pick.

But then I don’t want NY getting the pick which makes them much stronger for next year.

I am surprised the Warriors aren't laying down to fall to the 6th seed here and are playing their starters down the stretch.

I'm happy though. That 1st round match-up is extremely tasty and it guarantees either the Warriors or the mercenary are bounced in round 1.

After the Donovan debacle, I wonder if the Knicks will cobble together a trade proposal for Dame Lillard?

New York is an interesting team but I'm confident in the Cavs over them for the years to come unless significant changes are made. Not even sure if those changes are possible given they don't have anyone close to Evan's level and trajectory.

I would also find that pretty funny. There's not enough oofs to write to accurately depict the Mavericks.

If the Knicks lose in the first round, yes.

RJ has to produce for them. Otherwise may be another disappointment for him again.

I don't think the Knicks are any type of rush here. They made those moves in the draft and have a huge amount of draft capital, have Brunson under contract for a long time, RJ Barrett under contract for a long time, and are gonna hit 48 wins.

This doesn't feel like the year a few years ago where they made the post-season largely off the back of Derrick Rose finding the fountain of youth.

This is sustainable.

Brunson is 26. Robinson is 25. Grimes is 22. Barrett is 22.

If they had had a bad season, then I could see going after Lillard.

But now? With Brunson already there and much, much younger? I don't see the point of that.

We are seeing everything from a very Cavs-centric lens here. For instance "I'm very confident in the Cavs over them for years to come."

But the Cavs aren't the team they're trying to get past here, guys. The Bucks and the Celtics aren't gonna suddenly collapse into the void in the next two or three years.

THOSE are the two teams they have to try and get past. They should save their ammo for moves that can potentially help them do that.

Unless the Clippers lose tomorrow, they are now locked into the 5 spot in the West.

5 Clippers 43-38
6 GS 43-38
7 Lakers 42-39
8 NOLA 42-39
9 Minnesota 41-40
10 OKC 39-42

Last game of the season sees these teams in these games, all tipping off at the same time -

Jazz at Lakers
NOLA at Minnesota
Clippers at Phoenix
GS at Portland

Golden State enjoys the tiebreaker vs NOLA but not vs the Clippers or Lakers.
Clippers have the tiebreaker edge over the Lakers but not NOLA.
Lakers have the tiebreaker over GS and NOLA but not MInnesota or the Clippers.

So if the Clippers intentionally lose to get to the 6 spot, they would drop to the play-in if NOLA & GS win.

Clippers won’t risk dropping to the play in, no way

If Portland beats GS then GS wasn’t going anywhere in the playoffs anyway

Western conference scenarios for tomorrow.

Wow, they’ve really found a way to make the last day interesting. Before the play in the main interesting margin was in the playoffs/out of the playoffs. With the play in, there are three important margins - play offs vs play in, 7/8 slots in the play in vs 9/10 slots, and out of the play in. All three very important.

I think Golden State will for sure beat Portland so it’s really about where the Lakers and Minnesota end up in the play in. Which is just a home court question
