Game Thread | Knicks playoff series Game #5 | Knicks @ Cavs | April 26, 2023 | 7:00 NBA TV

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want to give DM a pass because he was just so uncharacteristically terrible and he normally plays with SO MUCH heart

Something is amiss.

Maybe he saw the writing on the wall when JBB didn't gameplan for the series.

I'll choose to believe that...

No so he won't be such a pussy when he goes up hard to the basket - he missed and missed because he's Weak
I think you missed my point that if they don’t game plan to get him more involved, 6 FG attempts is still 6 FG attempts

I’ve been a big I-Hart booster, since he was in Cleveland. He was the back-up big we needed.
Maybe we should have gotten LeVert in the original Harden trade instead of Allen. The keot Hartenstein long term. And users the first we dealt for LeVert last year for Josh Hart.

In other words, Hart, LeVert, and Hartenstain would likely be better then LeVert and Allen

But that’s just hindsight and pointless and ignores all sorts of butterfly effects

I wanted to be hopeful, but I felt some agitation in DM's press conference at practice today. Don't know if it was just me.

Kevin Love has 3 point and 4 rebounds in the first 8 minutes

About the same as JA had in 36 minutes
I'm done caring about Kevin Love not being here was this series. He might have helped the Cavs steal a close game 1, and sure, that may have made a difference.

But Kevin Love wasn't saving this sinking ship anyway. At absolute best he'd have made it Knicks in 6 - and that's probably a stretch.

Oh come on, their big grabbed 10 offensive rebounds all on effort. Didn’t see that fight from our bigs

No. Quite a few of those tonight were freebies. His last one, i nfact, is a great example.

Allen is in the corner scrambling to cover a shooter. barrett gets the ball in the middle of the floor uncovered because Brunson predictably beat the blitz. Barrett drives at the rim, Mobley has no choice but to challenge. Barrett misses (so Mobley does his job) but there's Robinson.

now, maybe some tiny ass player was supposed to rotate and try and block him out. LeVert, Mitchell..I dunno. Doesn't matter. They weren't gonna be able to do it.

Now, did he outmuscle us quite a bit? Yes, absolute. Allen specifically should be embarrassed.

Mobley spent a majority of his minutes on the perimiter defending Randle and STILL grabbed significantly more rebounds than Allen this series.

So while Mobley definitely got a taste of a big, strong player giving him the business in the playoffs, Allen was a couple of levels below his effort and effectiveness, I admit.

Still, the scheme got them killed.

BTW for all of the talk about Mitchell having that "dog" if you wanna see what the REALLY looks like turn on the Bucks Heat game and watch a real one, Jimmy Butler.

That's what it looks like. No matter if he's making or missing shots, watch how he fights and leads through example.

EDIT: That said, being a bigger player definitely helps in this regard. The game of basketball still tilts towards taller players............soooooo maybe you shouldn't trade the farm for a 6'3 guy who isn't a point guard?? I dunno.

Um, maybe he was agitated about being asked why he played like ass in game 4.

Oh I agree…. It was more of a comment about how abysmal JA played. If I was 6’10 and 25 years old, you can bet your sweet ass I’d have more than 4 rebounds in 36 minutes

Feel like I was hard at times on him when he was here, but no chance in hell Ty Lue gets breezed 1-4 with this roster
I feel like broken record. Ty was a lot of things, a quitter perhaps, but his is an absolute maestro when it comes to ATO plays. He literally is the opposite of JBB when it comes to that. Hell the play were DM has a shitty dribble hand off for a 2 sec 911 3 after a timeout sums up the season. All the 5 second calls etc

The rebuild was actually going fine until Koby got high on his own supply, fantasized he had the core of a championship team led by a championship coach, and blew everything up to get Mitchell
Five damn years with no playoff and "everything was going fine"?
