Week 8: Browns @ Seahawks 4PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Agree to disagree I guess.

I'm never going to be mad about actively trying to win a game.
I’m fine with your approach and read on it vs a certain someone else’s

My preference of run and reason why was still based on believing in this game, in this sceenario , the run call would have been the best option for actively winning the game and putting ourselves a statically lower chance of losing as well.

Stef did great right until the end (except the couple empty sets). I guess he gets credit for it? Read what you wrote. PJ has severe limitations, and showed it over and over on throws and reads. And deciding to go back to that well, in THAT situation, instead of a safe play - and worst case pinning them back with Myles lurking, well, woof. Deserved the outcome they decided to allow.

I’m with you.

Non-Browns fan who just watched his team put up a real stinker… throwing on 3rd and 3 with a few seconds before the 2 minute warning is the right call, regardless of who the QB is. If they’re in the NFL then they’re capable of getting 3 yards and passing for a first down has a greater probability than running in that scenario.

The Seahawks went 57 yards in 1:19 for a TD. Assuming a touchback could they not have gotten the additional 23 yards in 30+ seconds? You can argue that the INT was deflating for the defense but it’s hard to tell what would’ve happened if they run and punt. Ultimately it was the right call and a bad break from an outsider looking in.

Along those same lines I think Stefanski is a solid coach. He has the Browns looking competitive each and every week with a QB who should be a back up at best. That’s hard to do in the NFL.
Good counterpoint :)

Don’t even know who to blame. All I know is between the dropped pick 6 that pretty much would have iced the game, the 3rd and 3 to pretty much ice the game, and the defense folding to pretty much lose the game, the execution down the stretch was fucking terrible.
Nobody to blame. Regression to mean. Another average season. Lame.

Not calling you out at all...

But to me this is also kind of the point... PJ Walker makes stupid decisions.

I don't expect everyone to agree with me.. It's a fucking message board. I just cannot be convinced running there wasn't the better strategy..

Maybe not for Mahomes or Allen or Burrow or even Kenny Pickett...

PJ Walker? Kind of is..

And I'm gonna leave it there.

Just so we are clear, we have many people here that are saying you should put the ball in PJ Walker's hands instead of Nick Chubb on a 3rd and short when 3 yards wins you the game. That's basically the argument that is being made when you say you always throw there. You trust the worst QB in the league. That's quite a take. Obviously, Chubb is not out there, but it's insane to me that you aren't taking into account who your QB is and his body of work that shows he is an absolute disaster.

Have we forgot the near 2nd and goal pick against the Niners? The terrible pick in the first half when we were deep in Seattle territory?

If it was 3rd and 1, I'd have run and I think Stefanski would have too.

But the odds of converting 3rd and 3 are quite a bit higher passing than running and the fact that throwing is riskier from a turnover perspective just isn't enough to stop me from throwing there.

If throwing on 3rd and 3 is too risky than that HC needs to be fired

I think there's also the argument to say even if you run it and get 2.5 yards... you maybe even go for it on 4th down to win it too.

I don't think they were stopping us twice to get 3 yards. That's a whole other scenario and different risks but another idea as well.

And with even 6 minutes left in the game, I’d probably agree with you

In this game, what had led up to it, with our personnel, how we chose to approach the 4th quarter as a whole, and how little time was left, I prefer the run play, still with a chance at getting a 1st and then giving you the option to punt and make them go the whole field if the 1st down isn’t reached.

Hard for me to get too upset here with Stefanski when he went for the win and we have a guy (Njoku) wide open, and the other guy (Ford) would probably get a 1st as well. Just an awful decision by PJ. I don't see how he can keep being our QB, just put in DTR with a full week of practice.

Looking at it again, I don’t hate the call. 31 other QB’s don’t spike the ball into a defender’s helmet like a 95mph fastball.

Sure you can say “you know PJ isn’t that good so why do that?” But it’s 3 yards and you had 2 guys WIDE open. I’m more concerned at our defense letting Seattle walk down the field the last drive… but I guess it’s time to gear up for another week of fire Kevin talk, even though you were 3 yards away from being 3 and 0 with an XFL QB with two of those on the road.

Not surprising though. We are the most miserable fan base
