And here is my Documentary recommendation in full
Little Brother, May The Lord Watch (let me know if you watch it)
Might as well comment here.
I like how you and Jigo start off with talking about other stuff on these pods before you get to the Cavs. Browns, food across cities (a little disappointed to hear that Charlotte's was wack, that's a city near and dear. But since I am obligated for one STL trip a year due to family I will check out the place you mentioned). I consume a lot of Cavs pods and I think this might be your signature feature now.
When you talked about albums in a previous ep, I knew you were talking about Shuggie Otis without mentioning a single song. IMO, he was a bit of a progenitor to Prince. I got that album around the same time off the strength of "Strawberry Letter 23" which I knew from the Brothers Johnson.
And now Little Brother -- I swear you and I have too many of the same experiences. Little Brother not only being same-aged guys at me, from the South but making the kind of music I liked to listen to, AND ALSO having a front row seat to watching it all unfold into what we know now on the message boards. One of the times Nicolay (of Foreign Exchange) came to Cleveland for a show and we actually had a bit of a conversation -- he knew who I was before I even said a word. Phonte, Pooh and 9th reminded me much of the dudes I used to be around as a youngin in South Carolina talking hip-hop. What I loved about the doc is that you learned much more about who they were as people, and also how they got to where they are now. It was a bit of a bummer that 9th himself didn't participate but I think they explained possible reasons why very well. The soundtrack to my last year in SC, moving to Ohio, and the rookie-sophmore years in CLE.
The Cavs discussion is as great as ever. I will say this. The Blue/Orange scheme is what brought me to the Cavs in the first place. I mistook them for a certain other team and once I saw they were actually Cleveland I just locked onto them. Any time gear of that era pops up for sale, I have to slap my own wrist NOT to buy it. Just got one of the hoodies of that style in the mail today.
Side note: The Donkeys are a dirty-ass team under Payton. But more of my thoughts on that are in the Browns forum.
