2023-24 Season | Game #69 | Heat @ Cavs | March 20, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Fans that are uber positive at this point either live the life of riley and are fair weather fans and thats aok. The alternative is they are young LBJ fans and fully embraced the Cavs ever since, without suffering Cleveland sports along the way. Thats ok too just dont call out our fans that have to endure this over and over and over and over again

We're missing three starters and Wade, he's facing the other team's best defender (when he's not facing a double team), he's playing on minimal rest, and I don't know where this idea comes from that every (rookie) max player means a guy can carry a team on his own, but it's not reality.

You don't like watching Garland keep us in the game against the Heat. Think about how much less you'd like watching us lose by 30.
I typed up a longer post for you in the Garland thread.

I expect him to be able to carry the team on his own because I’ve seen him do it with my own eyes with worse teams. I’m expecting him, at minimum, to be as good as he was a year ago and two years ago. He’s regressed quite a bit compared to that.

Seriously, go watch that game against Sacramento last year where he went OFF. What happened to that guy? Everything you’re saying here, about defender matchups and doubles, was true then too, even more so.

ATO’s, Offensive sets against man and zone, and rotations.

Coaching is so bad.

Lue would be a 60 win coach with a team this engaged.

Allen had a great box score game, but he's a non factor in crunch time because he can't get his own buckets. Levert has somehow been putting up big assist numbers, but he still looks like a drunk giraffe dribbling the ball in traffic half the time. Turning to him to close games is not the answer.

I don't see anybody on this roster that wants to take a big shot except Donovan. Our execution late in games is scary bad. Give up a 4 point play and answer with Caris dribbling out the shot clock for a violation. Last full possession we need a 3 or an immediate 2 and we wind up with a time wasting 2.

Barring some super-heroism from Donovan, this team seems poised to crash out in the 1st round again. The only silver lining is that JB will not survive this one.

It's worrisome that Garland is struggling to beat guys like Jovic off the dribble. Maybe his body is not right yet, but man we runnin out of time.

Every damn game , when we get inside of 2 minutes, we completely disregard what had been working for us. Every damn game, DG walks the ball up the court and there’s between 8 and 12 seconds left in the possession; and to no one’s surprise (except for Darius Garland & JBB) we get a lousy possession and a shitty shot…that’s IF we get one off at all. Rinse and repeat

Dwell in your penthouse, make love to your model wife and watch sports leisurely. Dont judge the rest of us who live and die by this team even though we are the bad fans

I'd rather see CPJ with the ball than to watch another lollygag fest inside 2 minutes.

Game lost because of dribbling and a foul.

Niang and JA masterclass ruined.
CPJ got all of 4 minutes in the game….all in the first half. DG had a much better 2nd half…shooting and knocking shots down, but every single game, he bogs down and bring the offense to a complete standstill late in games. And it never works.

Allen had a great box score game, but he's a non factor in crunch time because he can't get his own buckets.

Assuming you’re only speaking offensively, Allen had the second to last basket of the game tonight because he’s an elite rim runner.

He’s a big time factor defensively as well. Can’t agree with this one.

Now, when he’s playing soft, which he didn’t tonight, I can see where you’re coming from. Allen’s the literal last player to eat criticism for this game though.

the difference is that exaggerated posters who post exaggerated criticisms of Garland are criticizing Garland.

whereas posters who criticize other fans for somehow succumbing to "groupthink" are criticizing fans.

it's impossible to moderate game threads if we are looking to stamp out exaggerated criticisms of players. but i am sensitive to criticisms of other fans as if somehow they don't think.

it's impossible to convince everyone that we are on the same side in terms of strategy but we do (almost all, not all) share wanting the team to succeed, and mods will push back sometimes against what we feel are unfair posts directed against other posters. we can't do that in every thread or in every case, lol, but it happens in game threads re: JBB and re: certain players.
Thank you. The comments are made in real time and not analytical ones like in Cavs Talk. I/We want Garland and the Cavs to succeed, period. However, during the course of the game, no one is immune from criticism. I’m not sure why some people can’t understand the difference.

Two years ago we had Lauri. Last year we had Mitchell. Both seasons Mobley was on the floor so we had a shot at winning a game where we only scored 104 points.

That's not this team. He doesn't even have Strus and Wade out there. I mean Okoro had 7 points tonight. Garland was doubled most of the night, you have the Heat's bigs playing up on the PNR 30 feet away from the basket, no one is cutting, and Okoro finished with 7 friggin points. He's the starting 2 guard, and yet, people are blaming Garland.

The Garland miss and 2 Niang misses were key. The offense didn't bog down, shots didn't go down while Razier had 2 that did. A make and miss lesgue. Yes, Okoro was the lynchpin. Guy should have provided more on both ends.

This just... isn't what happened tonight. Like at all.

Ice can stop this trend of missing one wide open layup per game.

And that foul on Rozier was so bad.

That Rozier side step is impossible to guard. He stretched the gather dribble +2 steps to its absolute limit and laced that shit.

Ok I had to Google that “Life of Riley” reference so I will admit you must be older than me, but this mindset is ridiculous.

First of all, I don’t see any Uber positive motherfuckers in this place. Especially after a loss, its majority the same complaints over and over. I think it’s fair to push back on overly critical fans especially when there are so many fingers that could be pointed tonight. I don’t put this one on Garland at all but he’s the whipping boy. He’s not playing at a max level right now but I’m rooting for him and winning matters more than arbitrary statistical thresholds.

If you “live and die” by this team, please touch grass. If you’re a Cleveland fan you should realize how much worse things can be and try to appreciate what we have here, imperfect as it is. Only one team in thirty gets the chip.
